One of this week's highlights? Meeting these young creative minds, who have spent the last few months researching members of the Legislature and creating trading cards of each of us. Such a fun project!

Today the Legislature swept funds meant for veterans.

They’ll say it was “unused” money.
What they won’t say: agencies were told for years to let those funds sit - so they could be swept later.

Veterans still need the help. The Legislature chose not to show up.

Balancing a budget by pushing Nebraskans off their health care isn’t responsible governance.

But that’s exactly what these proposed cuts rely on: Nebraskans falling through the cracks and losing coverage so the state can claim “savings.”

When the Legislature sweeps cash funds at the Governor’s request for purposes they were never meant to serve, it hurts public trust, and Nebraskans end up paying the price.

Every year we love making time to speak with Civic Leadership fellows from Omaha. This year’s cohort is so impressive and we can’t wait to see what their futures hold. Senator Hunt and Senator Fredrickson are cheering for you!

It still surprises me when colleagues talk about being a “team player” - even when it doesn’t actually help the people they represent.

Our job in the Nebraska Legislature is to stand up for our constituents, not industry. I’ll keep showing up and fighting for everyday Nebraskans.

In the #NEleg we talk about stopping the affordability brain drain - so why was the first bill passed one that cuts wages for young Nebraskans?

LB258 says young workers are worth less and voters’ voices don’t matter. Costs are rising. We must listen and ensure wages keep up.

As #NEleg debates policy impacting students with disabilities, rhetoric matters.

The Governor’s use of outdated, derogatory language reflects the same disregard behind cuts to A&D waivers and autism services.

Nebraska can do better. Words matter. Policy matters. People matter.

Happy Friday! This week I introduced my first two bills of the 2026 session:

✅ Appropriate funding back to Federally Qualified Community Health Centers
✅ Place limits on copays to lessen out-of-pocket costs for Medicaid patients

More to come next week!

Grateful for the honor of being named one of CSG’s 20 Under 40 - and even more grateful for the work, the people, and the purpose behind it.

This recognition reflects what’s been built so far, but it’s also a reminder that there’s much more ahead. Onward into the new year and beyond💥

Nebraskans want leaders who solve problems. I work across the aisle every day, because that’s how we deliever real results - and that’s exactly what I’ll keep doing.
