Hopefully China has its own domestic supply of helium, needed for many components of clean tech, another resource affected by the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
It has just been so blindingly obvious for so long.
Over 8 billion reasons to ditch fossil fuels in one photo.
The crew of Artemis II are returning home.
Quick, everyone put on your ape costumes. We are talking jape of the decade. We are talking April, May, June, July and August fool!

Praise Trump for accelerating the movement to electric vehicles!
Hundreds of millions of people live close enough to data centres used to power AI to feel warmer average temperatures in their local area
Reminds me very much of this:
This Green New Deal Simulator is great fun, free, and educational!
Use your cards to decarbonise the US ASAP, before the climate crisis causes a slide into political extremism.

Don’t worry, that’ll give the US administration and the Curious Orange another opportunity to continue the biggest insider trading scam in history.
And let’s not forget that we must reduce waste where we can, such as by passing holey socks to our teenage sons for them to use as they see fit.
Reminds me of being at a house party when a partnerless male friend bemoaned not having a girlfriend even though he was an alpha male, and my wife laughing so hard at this she had tears streaming down her face, and him looking so lost and confused.
A prime example of "I never thought the leopards I voted for would eat MY face” if ever I saw one.
Five climate scientists, five quotes about this Mach heat wave:
“It’s uncharted territory.”
“There’s no analog.”
"Typically, we don't consider summer weather to be normal in winter.”
“Once (records) happen, they can happen again.”
“There's a very clear-eyed picture of what we face this summer.”
Graphic showing that streets without trees can be as high temperature as 36, 50 or 50°C, whereas similar streets with trees can be 18, 20 or 26°C
As already warm cities become more and more vulnerable to extreme heat events, or just the “new normal” of hotter and hotter cities every day, here’s just one more reason why more street trees and other greenery are good for streets & cities. It’s just common sense, really. Cooler, cleaner, better.
Great to see @hengemusic.bsky.social in @coldwarsteve.bsky.social ‘s celebration of Manchester luminaries!
I’m off to see them tonight, as it happens!

On World Poetry Day I’d like to share one that has stuck with me all of my life.
Surpassing art, it transcends past the page, into the hearts and minds of all humanity.
Today I saw a little worm
Wriggling on his belly
Perhaps he’d like to come inside
and see what’s on the telly

The first tune that occurred to me was the theme to The Benny Hill Show.
I have given this some serious thought though, and I think it should be ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Known the world over, everyone can sing along, and it would be great to see whole stadiums of folk moshing to Brian’s bit.
On the plus side, castles made on sand get swept into the sea, eventually.
Very sensible moves from government to bring forward next renewables auction and permit plug in solar tech. As plenty of people have pointed out bizarre of government to lead on tackling price gouging when measures like this will have much more impact.

“What are the lessons from the Parisian revolution?
First, pushing out cars improves life for most inhabitants.
Lesson 2 is that banishing cars doesn’t hurt an urban economy.
Lesson 3: car-free cities must offer people good alternative ways to travel. Paris itself does.”

At @commonseac.parliament.uk we're launching an inquiry into the environmental impact of UK data centres, which seem likely to be gas-powered. Brits shouldn't have to face higher bills and accelerated climate change in Starmer's bid to become an “AI superpower”

The Guardian on our new study, which shows that global heating is significantly gathering speed. Our efforts to overcome our fossil fuel addiction should do the same.
