If there are shortages internationally, do we leave the realms of a competitive market? What about speculators buying up fuel on the basis fuel prices will continue to rise? Would chaotic price rises cause harm and lead to unpredictable behaviour?

Every Country in Our Supply Chain Has Declared an Emergency. NZ just launched an Ad Campaign. What the ministerial press conference got wrong about NZ's fuel supply, and what it didn't mention at all.

If prices were inflating mid shipment, gov ends up guaranteeibg payment to ensure supply. They then demand first dibs for essential services. Effective rationing?

The uncertainty around fuel delivery is high. Tankers divert to higher bidders. The risk of not being able to supply essential services is too high to bare socially/politically.

Wouldn't you get to a point where rationing is required for essential services regardless of price?

Could you write articles for publications. Maybe a patreon to support your side of the story?

Business confidence: AoNZ specific basics

"It is an ancient Mariner, And he stoppeth one of three. 'By thy long grey beard and glittering eye, Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?" - The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Because this topic is a bit of an albatross around my neck.

That was probably me- I did a bunch of analysis in 2019 that business confidence for NZ was least correlated to their economy in all the world, matched party in power & PM gender and length of office, and we would all be better just looking at other countries confidence.

The US Is Attempting Regime Change In Venezuela Watch Cuba

Good Morning and welcome to another episode of regime change by the USA. The US seems to be militarily trying to get rid of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro right now. There are reports of US ground forces in action. However, watch the Cubans too. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

I would start at both ends. Presumably the airport to Roskill section would progress relatively quickly?? From memory the depot was going to be in Roskill??

Could open that section ahead of Roskill to City.

England came into the hands of Normandy. And at that time, the Normans could not
speak any language but their own. They spoke French at home and they taught French to
their children. As a result, all of the English nobles that descended from them now speak
the same French language that they inherited. And if a man cannot speak French, people
think very little of him. But the low men and commoners hold onto their native English. I
think there is no other country in the world where people hold onto their own language
like the people of England do. Because people know that is important to speak both
languages, for the more a man knows, the more worthy he is.

Interesting to consider given the current govs aversion to te reo Māori.
