i was a non-speaking kid til i was almost 5 and have some suggestions of ways to help him communicate what kind of things happen that don't rely on being able to speak, if you want them. (for many of us, receptive language was/is FAR ahead of expressive)

i mixed everything but the milk together in a big container until it tasted chocolatey enough and sweet enough on a fingertip, and put a scoop in every glass of milk. used a stick blender then stuck it in water an whizzed it again; air dried
not the best, but it kept me alive.2/2
i don't think this is fully "meal relplacemetn", but there was a several month spell in the 90s where my safe foods were whole milk, egg protein powder with zero added ingredients, unsweetened cocoa, and sugar.
i was mostly bedridden then and almost everyting was too hard to do. (ensure etc
