Former NASA astronauts launch new group to promote U.S. constitutional values More than 100 NASA astronauts have signed on to a nonpartisan effort to promote “the principles that have propelled our nation for 250 years”

I trust these voices:

I went to high school with a guy who became an astronaut. He was one of the smartest people in my school. He is probably still one of the smartest people I know. I trust these folks.

Something Is Brewing in the Pacific That Nobody in Washington Wants to Talk About A super El Niño is forming in the same week federal climate policy is being dismantled. The atmosphere doesn't care about the politics.

This is an excellent over view of the dangerous warming period we’ll likely be entering in the next 12 months.

Share it widely.

Corp news will not acknowledge this increased danger until it’s too late in order to keep markets stable. That is their sole job.

New research warns the Atlantic Ocean’s key current system (AMOC) is weakening faster than expected, with models now pointing to a ~42–58% slowdown by 2100—pushing it closer to a tipping point that could trigger irreversible global climate disruption.

I attended my kids guitar concert at their high school yesterday and Sweet Child ‘O Mine was on the playlist next to Juanes, Cure, Radiohead and Bruno Mars. My point: you are not 70, but that child needs some real music exposure.

BREAKING: New data shows ZERO oil tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz today, signaling what appears to be a complete shutdown of the Strait for the first time in history.

The Strait normally carries about 20% of the world’s oil supply.

If it strengthens into a “Super El Niño,” ocean temperatures in the Pacific could rise more than 3.6°F (2°C) above average, powerful enough to shift global weather patterns.

The connection starts thousands of miles away.

Review this and keep in mind when we say “Palantir” we mean Peter Thiel, Alex Karp, and Stephen Cohen. They are anti American in all the ways we think “America” as a concept is a great thing.

Do you want to see the "big picture" on climate change?

Here it is.

Emissions are on the left, and include CO2, CH4, N2O, and f-gases. Natural CO2 sinks (from healthy forests & oceans) are on the right. And carbon removal, what little there is, is on the right, too. All expressed as GWP100.

The gospel according to Nigel: "In ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history, lived a strange race of people, the Druids. No one knows who they were or what they were doing. But their legacy remains, hewn into the living rock of Stonehenge.”

I resist coming back to this chain but… fatalism is a weird approach to identifying and contending with peril (“nothing can be done”) and it’s also not a very American (or human) ethos. Also applying European (white) history as a universal experience is flawed when contextualizing global phenomena.

On a scale of political trustworthiness I rank Mamdani as a bright warm sun on a cool spring day and Trump as what you find festering in the bottom of a latrine.

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?
