Expanded WIP sneak peeks for tiers 'subscriber' and above.
Authentic NES displayable graphics using MMC5-style 8x8 attributes and tile banks (Actually Broke Studio's more pragmatical "rainbow mapper", but it's the same mapping concept).

I've just uploaded a fix a user reported soft crash to NEXXT studio (the tool i make nearly all my NES graphics in). we're now at 3.7.5

Thank you!
I've begun working a bit for @brokestudio.bsky.social on a game concept using their 'rainbow' cart, allowing often rumoured/seldom seen mmc5-style 8x8 attributes & tilecount per scene; NES displayable.
My process thoughts available on patreon, supporter tier & up.

lots of people run it on wine. a good deal of effort has gone into making accomodations for linux users even if it’s not native.
I got a new bug report. Nothing's burning to the ground, but it was both simple to solve and serious enough that it warranted a same-day, late-nite update.
So, here's NEXXT studio 3.7.4.
One crash case leaner.

thanks! on the NES in particular, it’s the most stable-appearing ”gradient” too (dither patterns come with an array of artifact issues, as does vertical bars somewhat), but you need to be a little mindful of what colours you combine for the PAL audience (bc of vertical chroma blur)

NEXXT studio; minor update.
Small fix reenables "mirror-move" feature when editing sprites. Otherwise same as 3.7.1

uptade: all critical bugs resolved, but will need to address the minor ones before releasing. probably tomorrow
Addendum to the NEXXT 3.7 release
Despite testing, some bugs were discovered after while recording new tutorials.
Here's some things to avoid 'til i release a patch:
-Don't delete sprites
-Don't paste sprites
both may create difficult to deal with behaviour.
+3 minor bugs.
Halfway through fixing

Maintaining & Improving on the tool is a lot of work - it's a dayjob when i'm doing sprints. At the same time, i'm committed to the tool being free, accessible, and open source.
A coin in the tip jar is appreciated, if you can. I've got patreon and ko-fi.

I wrote an obituary of celebrated game developer Rebecca Heineman for Ars Technica:
arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...
Believe it or not, Super Sunny World has never had a Pause Menu until now! A new feature is finally pushing me to create one.
Currently, I’m sketching out the layout in NEXXT. #nesdev
I'm so excited to finally be able to demo Tactus in person at #SuperMAGFest2026! This will be the game's first public showing, so come on by and Slay to the Beat!
Shoutouts also to @frankengraphics.bsky.social and the rest of the Halcyon team! That game looks *rad* and you should check them out!
right, there's all kinds of staff and noone pulled the brakes, at least not hard enough to stop it
this occured to me while i was just reading the news that the swedish vice prime minister had thrown dirt on a journalist in a speech. only for it to be revealed that the ’dirt’ had been requested from chatGPT, which had happily hallucinated it, with no valid source.
Meatwashing.
When a human being repeats hallunicantions from chatbots, which other people inadvertedly trust more; creating both factoids & simulacra in the process.
i’m sure i’m not the forst this has occured to, but i want to call it that.
Meatwashing.
As in ”that’s just meatwashed slop”.
