No one protects their nests better!

I live in Sterling but they have a race with hoover craft every summer.

It has been low but is over flood stage right now with recent rains. It is cresting now and should be dropping soon.

Green winged Teal landed in front of me, then all took off and this scene has lots of water splashing with blue water as back drop

Yesterday as I was slowly trolling along the bank a flock of Teal landed a few feet from me. One was female and about 8 males. They messed around for a bit, kept an on eye me, then all took off:

They let me know when predators are around. They can be vicious defending nests.

I'm about 40 miles from there in Sterling.

I grew up by the Rock River and am out there about 200 days a year.

He was eating tasty grubs off that log.

They are rare for me to see. I have had them nest in one of my bird houses, but they never came back. The river flooded, but I hope to make it back to pay them a visit.
