Yes, I did it alone. I have wanted a pond in my garden for a very long time.

Beautiful hemispherical heads of many small dark purple flowers rise to just above the strap like foliage.

Scilla peruviana is from the western Mediterranean, not Peru. There’s a story, possibly apocryphal, that the first bulbs arrived in England on a ship called the “Peru”, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the reality was just a botanist misinformed about the plant’s origin. Wouldn’t be the first time. 🌱

It's not too late to put up a nest box

There are many different species of cyclamen, but the ones that bloom in the winter /early spring, cyclamen coum my favorite.

Even a quick glance shows that Galanthus elwesii is much larger in stem, leaf and flower than G. nivalis. You can see in the picture that G.elwesii has typical green markings on the inner perianth edge but there is also a wide green swath at the top of the inner segments as well.
