I was proud to present a New York State Senate proclamation declaring today Martha Graham Dance Company Day in the State of New York, recognizing the company’s extraordinary legacy and its continued influence on dance around the world.

Tonight, I was honored to join the Martha Graham Dance Company’s 100th Anniversary Gala at the New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building to celebrate a century of groundbreaking artistry and cultural impact.

Our bill would impose a $10,000 surcharge for every housing unit that is eliminated and not replaced, creating a clear incentive to protect the housing we already have. If we are serious about affordability, we have to stop subtracting housing.

Calling all K–12 students across New York State! The @nysenate.bsky.social is inviting young people to take part in this year’s Earth Day Celebration by sharing their creativity and ideas for a more sustainable future.

For years, it sat wrapped in scaffolding due to a sagging cornice. I was able to get the City to remove the unsafe section and bill the owner directly. Otherwise, it would likely still be covered today.

This is an old and architecturally interesting building, and I strongly hope it can be saved.

210 7th Avenue caught fire this morning. Thankfully, FDNY Engine 3 Ladder 12 responded quickly and brought the situation under control.

This building has a frustrating history. The absentee owner no longer lives in NYC, visits occasionally, and keeps the property boarded up despite paying taxes.

Participatory Budgeting kicks off today!

While I’m no longer on the City Council, my office was proud to lend a hand to ensure that the PB cycle continues for District 3.

Great to meet with Merritt Birnbaum, President and CEO of the Riverside Park Conservancy @riversideparknyc.bsky.social, to discuss the ongoing work to care for and enhance the full Riverside Park system, including Riverside Park, Riverside Park South, Fort Washington Park, and Sakura Park.

Staff from the @mayorspeu.bsky.social will be in our district office (322 Eighth Avenue, # 1700) the 4th Tuesday of every month from 10:30am to 1:00pm to help constituents access the resources for which they’re eligible.
The next date to meet with a specialist is on Tuesday, April 28.

These programs help eligible older adults and New Yorkers with disabilities stay in their homes by freezing rent at its current level and protecting them from future rent increases.

Our office is excited to announce an opportunity for eligible residents to get help enrolling in the NYC Department of Finance’s rent freeze and homeowner tax exemption programs, including the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and the Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE).

We gathered today not only to remember those lost, but to demand stronger safety standards so that no other family has to endure this kind of preventable tragedy. We owe it to their memory to close dangerous loopholes and make our skies safer for everyone.

One year after the tragic Hudson River sightseeing helicopter crash that took the lives of the young Escobar Camprubí family and pilot Sean Johnson, I was honored to join elected officials, advocates, and the Escobar Camprubí family members to call for action.

It was so great being back at @stfrancisfriends Residence in Chelsea today for a fun singalong and wonderful conversation with our neighbors there. Thank you for the warm welcome!
