Geoökonomische Schocks sind mehr als Preisschocks.
@mbabic.bsky.social & @danmertens.bsky.social zeigen, warum #Dekarbonisierung geopolitisch kein Ballast ist, sondern Autonomie + Resilienz stärken kann.

Hi bsky people - if you care about how the EU seeks to fund all things "social-ecological transformation", which institutional architecture has emerged out of it, and why it is both contested and an unrealized promise: please have a look at our special issue on the politics of sustainable finance 👇
Thrilled that my first article is out in @jeppjournal.bsky.social ☺️
It looks at why renewable energy buildout in Europe has been *so* unsteady - tracing the evolution of/conflict over the regime for RE derisking over the last two+ decades...
It's open access! 👉 doi.org/10.1080/1350...

Alison Johnston and I have a new open access article out arguing that pressure from domestic rather than foreign bondholders is most effective in forcing populist governments to rein in their economic policies. Our case studies are Italy and Hungary, but there are clear lessons for the USA.
Teaching the political economy of the green transition this term, I used, and learned from, some amazing 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬. A 🧵 on some of the best. Further suggestions are very welcome, I'll add them below.
This could need some updating 😄

1. 'Rally around the flag' is not an automatism.
2. We apparently need more catastrophic droughts, wildfires, etc to have this conversation on 'green' spending
3. Does anyone count how often RRF money has already been 'repurposed'?
Well played @financialtimes.com
We are delighted to announce that our conference this year will take place at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, September 11-12. Keynotes speakers have been confirmed (Christian Borch, Fabian Muniesa, Vanessa Ogle) and the call for papers is now open! financeandsocietynetwork.org/finandsoc-co...

This week 50 years ago, German "Der Spiegel" covered on post-oil crisis recession (unemployment had doubled in 1974, annual real growth was zero). Headline Q was more than just business cycle policy: "Will the market economy remain?" Feels like a question now being asked for almost four full years.
We had a strong, but short-lived career on the twitter-thing: our IPE working group in the German Political Science Association is now on bsky. Get in touch, more information (in German) here: www.dvpw.de/gliederung/a...

How can decarbonization governance endure under increasing geoeconomic distress? That is the question that @mbabic.bsky.social and I tackled in a recent paper in Regulation and Governance. Comments welcome. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Danke Lukas! (Und ja, da magst Du recht haben, aber ich glaube auch, dass wir eine Debatte darüber brauchen, ob die derzeit dominante modellorientierte Besetzung von "HPE" sachdienlich ist bzw. dem Begriff gerecht wird. Vielleicht beim DVPW-Kongress?)

We have a new textbook on political economy out that seeks to wed CPE and IPE. It has some digital goodies for students and instructors, and I hope it's also useful for discussing the continuous transformation of (global) economic orders in the classroom. link.springer.com/book/10.1007...
