Happy new year! In 2024, I read 232 books (lots of them very short). These were my favourite children's and YA books, all of which will be enjoyed by adults as well as younger readers.

Doorstep Library Shared Reading Project Literacy creates transformational opportunities. It empowers young people to create the future they deserve by developing the skills they need …

I came across this bookish fundraiser on insta - can you chuck in a few quid? It will be matched as part of something called the Big Give. The project funds volunteer readers with families (so, a complement to Beanstalk at school)! #KidLitUK donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05...

Don't know how it's going to go - but I'm giving all three of these books to a school or a family. Cozy crime for 9 - 13 year olds.
One winner, UK only.
To enter tell me something about Christmas that makes you happy.

OK miss me with the bullshit that writers are ONLY on social media to sell books.

We're also humans who have pets and gardens and baked goods and pancakes that improbably come out of the pan looking like goats.

Where else are we supposed to talk about those things? Just stand outside and yell??

Here's your daily reminder that bookstores keep the love of reading alive — but they also keep neighborhoods beautiful. They are places to gather, to celebrate stories, to find community.

Please do your holiday shopping at your local independent bookstore, if you are lucky enough to still have one.
