Professors of Practice like Flora Charner -- still a working journalist -- make me optimistic about the future of the TAMU Communication & Journalism Department.
This convo is a glimpse into that future + a peek into how Flora's work in international news helps her students.

I'm fascinated by things like this and I think most other Aggies would be, too. Great piece of campus trivia that links the 1800s with a new, quiet spot in the shadow of Kyle Field.
If you're in Aggie Park for the playoff game (or any other reason), go find this! ππΌ
I hadn't considered there to be a need for a pet food pantry, but of course there is. Or that Aggieland Humane Society staff literally drives pets to other states if there are homes waiting for them.
Bonus info about ferrets, parrots, frenchies, long dogs and cats.
Worth a watch/listen.
Not gonna lie, this conversation about cybersecurity sufficiently stopped me in my tracks. All of us are VULNERABLE in ways you might not even consider -- including our voices. π€¦ββοΈ
Bast's top tip: Get a high-quality VPN, not a free or cheap one.
Worth the listen/watch.
This was a good talk about our collective fascination with true crime content - with someone who did (and still does) the hard work of pursuing leads and facts, and then telling compelling stories. @clairestamant.bsky.social teaches @baylor.bsky.social, but recently spoke to students at Texas A&M.
We can do this.
We can do this.
We can do this. Right? πππ»ππππ
I always imagined a cringe aspect to dating apps, but addiction and harm to mental health? Nope. Please share this convo with people in your life who are using dating apps to find love. -jgs
Thank you, Olivia!
Working hard to support the JOUR majors on the TAMU campus! More Aggie journalists are needed, and we have plenty of students in the pipeline. Tell your dad help is on the way! ππΌ

Just got back. You really do have to draw the shades tight when itβs time to go to sleep.
From left to right: Brazos Matters host Jay Socol and guests Krista Oldham and Sean Buckner. They are seated at a desk, speaking into microphones and wearing headphones. Behind them is a colorful backdrop of the Texas A&M University campus.
What am I supposed to do with real photos -- some of them 100+ years old?

Important for Aggieland. Important for America.
Brazos Matters host Jay Socol sits with Adam Drake and Jerrod Lane from the Brazos Valley Live Music Association at the KAMU Studios podcast desk. Each wears headphones and sits behind microphones, and a backdrop depicts an aerial photo of the Texas A&M University campus.
Remember when live music was a bigger deal in Aggieland? G. Rollie White Coliseum, The Hall of Fame, Northgate...
Where did all that go?
One group thinks it can activate aspiring artists, local venues, and audiences.

A shame that people are being forced to enjoy their cafe experience while sitting in floodwaters. Wouldn't have believed it had there not been this completely real photo of this totally real cafe.

I had no idea that a freedom colony -- what had once been a thriving Black community after the Civil War -- was only a handful of miles from campus. And that even more freedom colonies are all around us. This was a fascinating story that I hope helps save Dabney Hill.
I've heard quiet talks about a Hensel Park redo for many years, but this public discussion of how Texas A&M University, City of Bryan and City of College Station intend to collaborate on making it a special resource for the community is tremendously encouraging.
The Big Event is March 22 -- thousands of Aggies helping residents with projects such as landscaping and window washing. Hear insights from event director Becca Dawson, and assurances from City of CS's Caroline Ask that solid waste crews are ready.

We're a sustainability school!
Not only has Texas A&M's Office of Sustainability outscored t.u. on industry standards, but more Aggies are bringing their own sustainability initiatives to CSTAT.

Congrats to President Welsh and KAMU Studios for successfully launching this podcast! Highly recommend.
I was blown away by the way that opening hallway run sequence looked. Fam and I talked about that very thing in the moment. #severance
