I've found that the only time I am writing straight from my mind to paper, as I believe all first drafts should be written, is jokes.

Getting back into comedy has been a great creative exercise. But now I'm trying to understand why I can't seem to do the same thing with TTRPG writing.

I got the Red starter set and LOVE this game. If you can, tell is how you were involved! Can you share some things you did? (I understand if you can't.)

But having a role in workijg on this? Shiny AF.

So much going on here! The opening message is great: funk and swag will break down the divisions between us.

But hip-hop, funk, jazz, Latin, Caribbean... so many different fusions.

This definitely bears many more listenings.

Toxic consumerism shapes so many of us to only consider ourselves and our entertainment. The creatives don't matter as long as I am entertained.

Sadly, I find that a LOT of our social problems and injustices seem to revolve around money. Who has too much of it, who controls it, who desperately needs it...

And if we're all wallowing in toxic consumerism but don't recognize that, then we keep unconsciously perpetuating a lot of it.

RPG tip: Try both offering your own game summary and having players summarize. See which works for you.

What if crime prevention was more about getting in front of poverty so people become less desperate, stop trauma before it changes someone for the worse, could diagnose and treat mental illness earlier before tragedy strikes?

That's a Wish spell I would make in a heartbeat.

But what if villains' needs were met? What if those we deem dangerous instead got the care and community they needed and deserved? If we had that time machine and went back to stop Hitler, what if we went back a few years earlier and chose to treat him in such a way where he doesn't start the Nazis?

But gaming tropes don't seem to go with that as inspiration. It's usually just stop the bleeding, keep swinging the axe, repeat.

In the New Testament often Jesus and the Apostles heal and welcome back the shunned and ostracized into society. Lepers can return, paralyzed beggars walk, the possessed are calmed and eat with others, etc.

But moving back to the fantasy of gaming - where often our characters face physical damage and evil personified our characters punish such evil (via sword and spell) and heal it with magic.

But what magic heals mental illness? Can a cure wounds spell heal emotional trauma? Fix neurological illness?
