Hitting the keys in the word mines for Hammer and Stake, deciding where to put the chapter on sabotage and making magazine-fed crossbows, dogstooth bullets, and other anti-vampire nastiness...

In my noggin, this is the theme song for a film adaptation of Walter Jon Williams' awesome cyberpunk novel HARDWIRED.

On a more positive note: progress made on outstanding freelance obs, and I found a triple-threat of goodness for my New Horizons book!
Vague: Remember, when you get called out for shitty behavior, it's very important for you to erase any and all criticism because your skin's so thin that even the mildest pushback must feel like bathing in boiling lye. Being passive-aggressive is far more important than admitting any fault at all!
As we careen madly toward the turning of the year - and definitely the gut, given what's coming - the New Year's Eve Bad Movie Night theme is...
WHY GOD WHY: Totally unnecessary sequels, prequels, adaptations, and other trash.
Just SPECIES or Hellraiser alone could fill the entire night.
I am always skeptical of people who dismiss safety tools at the table to the point of assuming safety and deep roleplay are mutually exclusive.
Color me intrigued. That's a hell of an elevator pitch.
I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

Turns out the CEO shooter didn't have a jam. If you don't know your gun history, this pistol is the modern version of the WW2 Welrod, a covert assassination pistol used by the British SOE.

I think you mean the AWESOME PURPLE JACKET THAT RULES. 😄
The power elites like this chump placed themselves above the law, thinking there's no consequences, that their wealth and status placed them above the little people.
Now they expect us, the 'little people', to empathize with them? Oh, the plight of the poor billionaires!
Bang bang bang, fuckers.
Ivy had a seizure last night and had to have a CT scan to check for damage done to her brain. The good news is that her brain is fine, but she's having trouble getting oxygen to her blood, which caused the seizure.
If we can get this surgery funded, she has a fighting chance. ko-fi.com/talita97409/
You know, I can live with that. :D
On a more pleasant-ish note - annual insurance enrollment is coming up, so I'm available to answer questions about health insurance, decode statements of benefits, and help with the Marketplace.
I don't charge, and I don't collect or sell your info. I'm just here to put what I know to good use.
Speaking as someone who worked in health insurance, yeah, it's straight up murder and it's not uncommon to deny on first claim in the industry at all. It's the same principle as warranties and rebates - making the process so arcane and difficult that people just give up.
I'm mean, but screw him.
At least we've finally gotten something from the cyberpunk dystopian hellscape that we wanted - the assassination of corporate executives.
He was responsible for corporate policies that not only endangered millions of lives but resulted in people being denied care that would have saved their lives.
He deserved it. He deserved worse besides. <cont>
Regarding today's assassination of the CEO of United Healthcare, I'll say it:
The guy was trash even by the standards of corporate America. A fraudster, a criminal, ruthlessly climbing the ladder to be king turd of shit hill. <cont>

For all'a my new followers - Welcome! I want to, at the very least, entertain you all with my gibbering, blathering, and plain talking about TTRPGs, video games, books...and provide a decent discussion space for the same and more.
Got something cool? Art? A game? Share!
I admit, I wasn't a fan of SMILE. Too much reliance in jump scares and a patently false unreliable narrator trope. 2 is proving to me that the filmmakers have definitely improved. They're leaning in to the premise of the Entity is absolutely real, and we get a creepy escalation of events from that.
Well, SMILE 2 is off to a hell of a start.
Didn't I mention that I watch a lot of movies?
ALIEN. In the theater, age six. I AM OLD!
I swear, anywhere he pops up...well, they say fire cleanses, right? Macris needs a bath.
He hasn't shriveled up like a slug dosed with salt? Who's promoting his fash garbage THIS time?
Having completed my watch of Pantheon last night, I cannot recommend it enough. You'll have to scrape up the second season on YouTube or some other site rather than streaming it all in one place, but it's a great piece of post-cyberpunk storytelling.
So, you know, go watch! It's the Good Stuff.
