Maybe it's just a newbie mistake, I wasn't really paying attention to whether these were first crowdfunding campaigns or not 🤔

Just happened across a couple of old backerkits in quick succession where prototypes have notably different colors than the designs due to limited color availability and artists were apologizing for it and it jumped out at me as a very avoidable problem.

Like I get not wanting to limit yourself to exact hex codes or whatever for your design, especially if it's a character of some kind, but if your design looks very different from the outcome you're just going to create a situation where people like the design but not the product.

I can only speak for myself as a fursuit maker but any time I am designing a character to be turned into a fursuit (premades etc) I am going out of my way to pick the colors based on available furs. Right? The materials are part of the design process.

I think it's so odd when artists that make merch create their designs without keeping the available material colors in mind.

Dogs are a lot like humans or bears in that they're scavengers that CAN extract nutrition from many different types of ingredients (a higher variety than wolves), but there's a big difference between "you *can* extract nutrition from this" and "you *need* this to meet your nutrition needs."

Like, just look at medication. Theoretically the active ingredient is all you need (maybe something else to make it work right), but if you want the medication to be a pill (for example), you also need to include the ingredients that make it able to be a pill. It's the same for dog foods.

I'm not dogmatic about dog food or anything but I mean, doesn't it seem obvious that sometimes if a product needs to be a particular shape or size or texture you'll need to include ingredients to make it that shape or size or texture?

I saw someone on some Facebook thread recently making the claim that there's no such thing as filler in a dog food, that all of the ingredients in a food are there for nutritional completeness reasons and nutritional completeness reasons only, which was just. So confidently wrong.

Apparently she was in episode 1 too but I didn't spot her?? Huh.

I don't really like Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen so far (I'm on episode 5) but my jaw did hit the floor when Victoria Pedretti appeared playing the protag's mother after I spent 3 straight episodes thinking about how the protag actress looked like Victoria Pedretti

One of Ziggy's pet names is "Bub" or "Bubby" and I always say hi to him when I encounter him around the house, and since last summer every single time I greet him I hear this ringing in my ears:

It's really interesting and not that far off from the current theory of seal (a mutation on another locus essentially causing KB to be only incompletely dominant over ky), so I'm eager to see where we go from here. Would love to see some more robust studies exploring this one.

Ay is usually completely dominant so the expected phenotype for a Ay/a dog would be clear sable, something like a redbone coonhound, but for the dogs in this study that were both Ay/a & homozygous for this particular mutation on the E locus, they were EXTREMELY darkly shaded, almost agouti-looking.

Now I'm not going to pretend I have the same understanding of the mechanisms as an actual scientist BUT from what I can tell this paper is presenting evidence to suggest that there is a particular mutation on the E locus that causes, over on the A locus, Ay to be only incompletely dominant (over a)

Replaying Sonic Adventure 2 is so funny because it's like:
- the story is impossible to follow
- the voice acting sucks
- the graphics are bad
- the sound balance is preposterous
- it's one of my favorite games ever.

I'm going to be disappointed if the Community movie doesn't reference Troy and Abed's plan to stage each others' deaths as suicides caused by the unjust cancellation of Firefly to get it back on the air now.

By contrast 10 years before that I was in middle school wearing the same bright red overcoat every day until it fell apart because it reminded me of Edward Elric. So. That definitely feels like a long time ago.
