Time to bring in The Closer

Excited for this. Isabella’s been such a great follow, especially since 2020. Cool to witness a leading voice leaving their mark in real time.

They’re calling it bluesky’s Couple of the Week.

@wajali.bsky.social “wonderful, great response” is the way more people should respond to these types. Makes them look like the losers they are.

I had the exact same thought lol

Time travel partner: hey you’re back early

Me: faster hippos

Partner: what?

Me: *loading a pistol and opening the Time Machine door* faster hippos

Permission structure to bring strange dads into the tent. Your Greg Norman polos and quarter crew socks are welcome.

Whoops, I wasn’t clear. I meant that regardless of the position of the critics (L-C-R), using this kind of left critique (which can be very true and useful) against Medhi doesn’t make sense. If u want to critique him from left, it’d be on something much different than that. Maybe parroting ur point.

I may need recalibration but my understanding for Medhi after following him for years is that he’s not someone who isn’t radical/outspoken enough about the need to combat fascism/The Right. Very slim room to criticize him (if you must) from the left and it’s not this.

I heard someone make a convincing case for Napoleon III, too. The stupidity, paying people to walk around with him and praise him (e.g. door dash last week).

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

There's a sense in which I respect the evangelical leaders who unhesitatingly lined up behind the idea that President Pedophile B. Antichrist, the libertine looting and burning the world every day, is god's manifestation on earth. You have to rework your brain and moral sense so much to get there.

This writing sucks too. Oh the “shallow” temptation? Wouldn’t want a pluralism that’s both vacant *and* hollow.

being the party who funds and supports science, education and evidence means you're going to be the party of SMEs who use language specific to their area of expertise, and i don't think these two things are as easily divorced from one another as a lot of other people do

You know this but also - this is what makes people think Dems say this the majority of the time!

If one of the leaders of a party gets up and says that the party shouldn’t say XYZ, it is natural for anyone else to think that, in fact, a plurality+ of people aligned with that party say XYZ!

Is it Ethan Hawke or do I just have a crush and love his videos chatting about art?

It genuinely terrifies me that I was like “aha this guy has good points, time to buy his books and see if I can train my thinking to mimic his” when I was leaving high school, and older people are still doing that. Not that he’s scary, but I remember that “aha” feeling and how strong the pull is.

Never fails after a trip to Aldi or to the park, I’m like “actually the polls are wrong and the American people are ready to build a village.”

literally every day my wife or I go outside with our daughter people go out of their way to be friendly, offer aid or a kind word, no matter where we've traveled. it's nice to remember that hostility as default mode of interaction is not destiny, much as it benefits some to pretend it is

Often when people punch left and claim that we hate Dems more than the gop, for critiques or whatever, they’re totally wrong. In this instance for this kind of “joke,” I think there’s a case to be made. Hope someone spells it out for these people doing this kind of thing. Extremely alienating!

Nice, thanks. This is another funny thing where I’m used to sharing gists or repos and now it’s like “just tell the thing to do it.”

Do you have a (GitHub or other) gist you can share on this?

Bulls..t! Alabamians need to ask themselves if they want a governor who wants to end social security? Tuberville makes a fortune playing the stock market on inside Senate information but clearly doesn’t have a clue how Alabama seniors worked hard…

Idk if you meant “how much AI code is already in production…” but either way this is true and funny.

Trump wants to literally put your taxes in his pocket.

the president of the united states is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system

Is this another point in favor of @whstancil.bsky.social ‘s larger point (not that it’s his position exclusively)? That is, paraphrasing, history shows people not caring as much when material conditions were worse but now people have access to things that make them more aware/doomy about it?
