I was really hoping that updating would fix the flashing red “! Forbidden” message at the top of my mentions page but instead I still have that and it’s just not showing me the main feed page anymore. So that’s nice.

I largely agree with you. The majority of “Christmas” songs I enjoy aren’t really about Christmas, they’re just sort of wintery and festive.

I spent a (thankfully brief) period of my life on assistance. I had many years after that in minimum wage jobs where I could only save a little. On minimum wage if I was careful I could get the better pair of winter boots once every 3 years instead of the cheap shitty ones every year. A luxury.

And everything is so much more expensive when you can’t afford to buy in bulk, or to spring for the version of the Big Purchase that will actually last.

People who've never been poor don't get this. "Just learn to budget!" fuck off. I've had good jobs where saving was easy, & even with shitty jobs i could save *some*. These days, on government disability, not only can i *not* save anything, but every irregular expense sets me a little further back.
