"Voted for Bolsonaro and then migrated to Portugal" was also very common here in Brasil.

Now I'm here imagining really doing leg press while listening to any of Rush's complex rhythms. Seems hard.
We desperately need more people fighting for stuff like UBI rather than circlejerking with their in-group about how much they hate AI on social media
Nice video! On LVT, I see you start talking about it, comparing the taxes for common people to MasterCard fees. It would be very nice if you could talk about it in more detail, any day.
I do agree. DG was an anarchist, but this is a reformist position. Since I'm in a left reformist position, I support it as the best solution (along with progressive taxation and other stuff).
UBI, with its power to say no (I think DG jokes about the power to say orange), could help to reduce working hours and to eliminate BS Jobs.
I do agree, for sure. As some people say, Keynes predicted that in a hundred years people would work very few hours, because of automation. But people today work a lot. That came with the changes in the 70s-80s and the BS Jobs.
Yes! It's near the end of Bullshit Jobs. He writes that he doesn't like so much to support a policy in a book, to avoid making all the discussion about it, but he really thinks it could be a solution to the problem.
Segunda derivada me lembra quando na pandemia o PIB obviamente foi bem negativo num ano e depois um pouco positivo no outro ano, e o Bolsonaro usou essa diferença pra sugerir que era grande coisa.
‘Keynes predicted we’d have a 15-hour work week. The robots HAVE been taking our jobs — but instead of redistributing the labour, we’ve simply made up completely meaningless, pointless jobs.’
- David Graeber
I mean, those who are still alive...
These authors... do all of them have a social media account?
30% of fascists?
And Carmen Miranda, Alban Berg... and me!
"I remember my first job as a dishwasher in a seaside Italian restaurant. I was one of three teenage boys hired at the start of the summer season, and the first time there was a mad rush, we naturally made a game of it, determined to prove that we were the best and most heroic dishwashers of all time, pulling together into a machine of lightning efficiency, producing a vast and sparkling pile of dishes in record time. . We then kicked back, proud of what we'd accomplished, pausing to smoke a cigarette until, of course, the boss showed up to ask us what the hell we were doing just lounging around. "I don't care if there are no more dishes coming in right now, you're on my time! You can goof around on your own time. Get back to work." Of course, we learned our lesson: if you're on the clock, do not be too efficient. You will not be rewarded, not even by a gruff nod of acknowledgment. Instead, you'll be punished with meaningless busywork." ... - David Graeber
Story from the book Bullshit Jobs about how David Graeber learnt a lesson regarding the world of work.
Very nice to see you talking about that, Richard, my namesake! Your support could help a lot in spreading the word for the UBI cause.
Galera tá falando que o Trump só quer a Groelandia porque o mapa do Mercator distorce e ela parece muito maior do que é.
e eu acho POSSÍVEL SIM
"foi no vácuo"
Concerning slavery, some intellectuals here in Brasil tell an interesting story: the British powerful guys were already planning colonization in Africa, so ending slave trade could help weaken some local leaders.
So it's not all good intentions, even if some guys were really good.
Any thoughts?
Shouldn't we be talking to guys in Degrowth? Trying to convince them about focusing on UBI, progressive taxation and other things we consider more affirmative?
Instead of just saying they're wrong.
Coming close to people who agree with us in many things, isn't it what you usually say?
It did hurt my ears as well. But how could I judge it? If I try to say a dutch word, it will probably sound like this...
I believe he knows that, but prefers another strategy for communication.
I would also prefer the plan of convincing the guys in Degrowth about focusing on UBI and progressive taxation.
Can we say it's the second county, after RMI? Or not so fast?
Not UBI.
🤣 Perfect! "Some people are more universal than others"
Scott, how can we get updated on the news about RMI? It's too hard! Almost no newspaper, no famous influencer, even the government is not frequent on social media.
Do you have a suggestion?
Ah, cê é brasileiro, mano...
Same as Brenda and Amanda.
Podem fazer... daqui pra frente não vão ter escapatória, mesmo, vão ter que pagar.
