Great to meet Rosie and Ben from Raylands Country Park last week!Â
We discussed some of the challenges they’re facing as a local business in the current climate, as well as the brilliant work they’re doing on rewilding and biodiversity.
What’s happened with Peter Mandelson is unacceptable. The British people were promised change at the last election and an end to the chaos from the Conservatives.
Instead, we’re seeing the same untrustworthiness and lack of transparency from this government.
I hope this review will now give families much-needed answers and lead to lasting improvements in maternity care.
I know this is a huge relief for the local families, who have had to fight so hard for this to happen. I was with the parents during their meeting with the Health Secretary a few weeks ago, and they put their case forward in such an impressive manner.
After two years of campaigning, I'm really pleased to hear that the Health Secretary has accepted calls for Donna Ockenden to chair a full independent review of maternity services at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Here is a quick update on some of the things I got up to last week👇

🏊️ At a time when too many of our rivers and seas aren’t safe to swim in, it’s deeply worrying that 1,200 pools have closed since 2010.
We need to back our communities and secure the future of these vital local facilities.
We had productive discussions on GP access, the impact of the new contract on surgeries, and how we can make better use of Horsham Hospital - part of my campaign to bring healthcare closer to residents.
Great to meet with the CEO of the Sussex Community Foundation Trust, Siobhan Melia and the local GP Patient Participation Group chairs last week.
🗣️Illegal vape shops are undermining our high streets and putting young people at risk.
We need tougher powers that give police and councils the time to act properly.
What started as a derelict warehouse back in July 2025 has been transformed into a sleek music and events venue. The vast amount of acoustic work that’s been done alone is impressive.
It's a real asset for the town, and I can't wait to see it thriving.
Great news for Horsham's music scene! 🎶🎸
Last week, I visited Brolly Brewing for a sneak peek of their new venue, The Brolly Fermentarium, which opens its doors on Saturday.
🗣️ Too many villages are losing vital local assets like pubs and community hubs, the very places that support local life.
While the Fair Funding Review recognises rurality in principle, the evidence shows rural areas face a widening funding gap compared to urban areas.
Sewage pollution is still blighting our rivers and waterways, and residents are rightly fed up.
I’m calling for tougher rules on pollution reporting and stronger enforcement to hold water companies to account.
I recently met with Money Wellness, which offers free and confidential debt advice and is a trusted place residents can turn if they’re struggling.  If you need support, you can find help below👇 or call 0161 258 7514.
Great to meet students and staff at Barns Green Primary School.
Thank you for such a warm welcome!
If you've been affected by road safety issues and street racing, please support calls for action by signing the petition👇
I recently met with Sussex Police Inspector Neil Durkan to discuss local crime, including concerns around street racing and shoplifting.
✍️ I’ve joined Lib Dem colleagues in writing to Minister Steve Reed for an urgent review of shared ownership in extra care housing.
Too many families are left unable to sell, facing huge costs and unnecessary distress. We need fairness, transparency, and action from the government.
Proud to join the Sussex & Kent ME/CFS Society alongside @alisonebennett.bsky.social.
We urgently need greater awareness and support for those affected by these conditions, something I'll continue to push for in Parliament.
Wishing everyone a great Bank Holiday weekend!Â
Whether you’re celebrating Easter, Passover, or simply enjoying a well-earned break, I hope it’s a happy and peaceful time.Â
There is plenty going on in Horsham over the weekend, find out more here👇
Great to meet residents at my recent Horsham surgery.

Great to meet students and staff from Greenway Junior School in Westminster. Such brilliant and thoughtful questions from the group!
🤝 It was a pleasure to chair the latest evidence session of the APPG for Rural Business, our final one ahead of next month’s ministerial meeting.
Thank you to all the expert witnesses who have shared their insight throughout the sessions.
Our high street is at the heart of Horsham and must be protected.
I’m pushing for a fairer system that supports local businesses and tackles issues like shoplifting head-on.

🗣️ Financial abuse is a hidden but devastating form of domestic abuse, and too often, people are still being failed by the system.
On Monday, I asked the government what more can be done to ensure child maintenance and benefits systems aren’t used as tools of coercion and control.
