Early stroll. Horizon like a one-bar electric fire. A curling wave of orange peel. That snail’s long journey. A blackbird’s sculpted song. A dropped piece of string as long as a piece of string.
Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.
Paula Barker with sign saying ‘just ask could it be sepsis?’
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that can arise from any infection. It claims 11 million lives globally every year, including 48,000 in the UK. Yet, if caught quickly, sepsis is often treatable.
Please take 5 minutes to get #SepsisSavvy!

Just managed to do the subtitles for this. The video includes footage of the state-sponsored police riot at Orgreave and audio testimony from miners who were there. With John Tams’ music it makes for a powerful combination.
It’s why I missed the launch of Outsiders at St Albans Museum & Gallery - was in the critical care unit in hospital. All sorted now but it was touch and go at one point apparently.

Nearly died of this last year, very important to raise awareness.

THREAD. In her exclusive interview in today's Daily Telegraph Magazine, the actor, influencer and designer Philippa Islington-Smythe (pictured) discusses the price of fame, her controversial new perfume, working with Margot Robbie and how becoming a parent changed her perspective on the world...

Feel like it has been a lifetime since I've engaged with what was once Photo Twitter. So now I'm dipping my toes again, maybe time to (re)introduce myself. I'm Rob, a photorapher and historian based in the North West of England. You'll most likely find me in a church or cemetery.
That photo of the picket line is in my new zine which can be found here marcdavenant.com/product/rebe...
Yes it is terrible. I wrote to the chairman and CEO and it’s clear that this dispute has little to do with pay. It’s ironic that a museum about the history of employer exploitation of miners is behaving like this.
My article on what may be the last coal miners’ strike to ever take place in England. Nobody should be visiting that museum until this is resolved.

My article about the strike at the National Coal Mining Museum is in this week’s @bigissue.com along with some of my photos. Don’t miss it www.bigissue.com/magazines/pu...
The only person mentioned in this thread whose values are aligned with those of the Daily Mail is Starmer. The ‘Labour’ PM who admires Thatcher and whose policies are to the right of even her appalling government. The man is a moral and ethical vacuum.

All of the orders for this which have been received so far will be posted today.
Sobering to think that if the current anti-protest legislation had been in place back then the peace camp would have been broken up swiftly and all of the Greenham women would have been sent to prison for years. And Labour is planning to make matters worse with its new laws on protest.
New research in @nature.com concludes that burning trees and capturing the carbon doesn't give you any "negative emissions".
Cutting down the forests actually means less CO2 absorbed.

Photo of a Red Rebel on the front of a zine with the words Rebellion! and Davenant in white below. The zine is lying on a wooden floor.
The zine for Rebellion! is now available in my shop. It has 55 photos distilled down from 40,000 taken over the life of the project. I’m very pleased with the quality of the printing and hope you like it https://marcdavenant.com/product/rebellion-zine/
Whatever happens to him I will never forgive Starmer for squandering a unique opportunity to reinvent this country for the better. With that majority he could have done anything and chose instead to do nothing except take gifts, appoint appalling people, grovel to Trump and appease the far right.
I softened that a lot before posting obvs.

It’s too depressing and even he can’t lift it
We used to have to get written permission if someone was going to appear in the background of something filmed. How are tech bros allowed to just consume every photo you've ever taken, analyse and name the people in it and use it for their own money making?
