I get this. I’m definitiely “sitting at the back of the class” but am starting to find myself there more than other platforms!

You should try again! I feel like the momentum there has swelled in the last month or so, for some reason. (As someone with no real data, but pretty good at reading “vibes”. 🔮)

Unrelated - I think you need to have a Substack moment and start migrating over! (Thought of you this morning when I was contemplating jumping into a Substack slow-read group to read War & Peace in 2026. If you led a Moby Dick read, I would be totally in!)

In my domestic life, I have a sincere hatred of cans that aren’t designed to stack. What are we even doing.

So much, yes! My heart swells at every golden hour that hits Chicago streets and buildings and hardly blips at a beach sunrise.

Confession: sometimes instead of bringing my existential anxiety to Jesus, I bring it to a black hole of Hauerwas videos on Youtube

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.

We defaulted to Pillar and then decided to help out with their campus launch at Western's chapel last fall. It's been good!

Yeah! Family needs became pressing about a year and a half ago and we had to switch to online schooling for my youngest, which meant my bandwidth for working "weekends" was gone. So I stepped down from my role Maplewood (very sad! love them all!).

(Also, Pillar calls them “worship folders”. Is that an RCA thing??)

Is there anything better than a fantastic brass swell in the middle of a song??! Be still my heart.

Yes! I have some songs that have very different arrangement vibes depending on if I’m playing the piano or guitar and I can’t decide which version will eventually be recorded. 🙃 I like them both!

Very much one of my stress nightmare scenarios. 😭 Less than 30 mins to assess and rehearse songs I didn’t pick and modify all the key signatures on the fly. Eeep. 🙏🏻 (Thankfully it all worked out, however I have no adrenaline now left in my body.)

Hobbled into worship rehearsal this morning, VERY tired, and with the world’s largest canker sore - but ready to offer light backup vocal support and harmony to our guest worship leader, who - bless - came in assumming I was leading all the songs. 😅

90% of the time, when someone asks someone else out on a date on a tv show or movie, they hang up before discussing the when/where and this annoys me 100% of the time

Eavesdropping on a first date and they just started talking about their dads. I think it was nervous small talk. (At 19, your family has been almost your entire world—so an obvious default.) But it was so sweet and I thought about how much their dads would probably love to be eavesdropping with me.

And the city, state! I’ve wasted years of my life trying to find out where a church is located—scrolling through every page on their site.

The Spotify algorithm always wants me to listen to Grizzly Bear. And never have I wanted to listen to Grizzly Bear.

Not a commentary, but I’ve attended Open Table studies that last two years (Douglas Campbell, John Behr, Cherith Nordling, Chris Green, Kenneth Tanner + others) and we’re starting 1 Cor in the fall - really looking forward to it! Love the wide mix of backgrounds and traditions they bring.
