#Bluesky is so weird.
You can post a video of an all electric train running through the heart of Palo Alto, California, and a bunch of cool urbanists and train lovers will comment “Hell yeah”

Mark Carney came into power with a promise that he was going to build homes at levels not seen in decades, and so far what we've gotten is his government refusing to hold some of our largest cities accountable for deliberately breaking agreements they signed on regulatory reform.
I’m running for Toronto City Council in Ward 11 University–Rosedale.
trust me…we know 😭
trying hard as advocates to change that…
they could be so goooddddd
Why does ION Stage 2 cost 5x more per km than the original project, and as much as subways cost to build 20 years ago? @tritag.ca analyzed the data to find out why, looking through documents containing cost breakdowns for the original project and Stage 2.
Walking on a multi-use path, had a guy on an e-moto beeping at people to get out of his way as he blew by at ~50 km/h.
I see e-bike people get defensive In The Discourse about any nominally e-bike related regulation, but we have got to find a way to get rid of this shit.
why hasn’t ontario ever considered just adding tolled express lanes to highways?
then everyone’s happy…if you want to pay, pay, and if you don’t, then don’t. it gives options and addresses the underlying need for people who want to get places faster (combined with providing better regional transit)

Beautiful.
Just kind of put the pieces together on this one because I never really knew why I felt so reluctant to listen to people’s suggestions, even if they’ve lived there.
I know it’s def important to pick and choose though…esp regarding safety. But other than that I think it’s healthy to get a fresh pov
You ever want to just experience things in your own light?
I’ve always felt strongly about doing things for the first time (e.g. travelling to a new place) without any bias or recommendations…to sort of form my own perspective.
Then, after that is when I love asking people for rec’s for next time.
Seemingly awesome new proposal for the Toronto waterfront community!
Great example of good planning and coordination…it’s going to be both a practice facility for the WNBA team AND a publicly accessible recreational facility.
Made my day!

Update!!!
15-min weekend service is coming back to the #LakeshoreEast line!
I’m actually so happy about this…30-min trains after concerts and Jays games was not fun at all…

Apart from easing congestion, scaled back the return to the office mandates at Fed and Prov levels could really "help people at the pump".
alas..
yes there’s a culture that speeding a certain amount is acceptable in Ontario.
but if I ever got a ticket for speeding 12 over, I wouldn’t argue it. Because by definition, I was speeding. It is what it is…
Good morning to everyone still angry that Doug Ford is planning to replace locally elected heads of regional governments with unaccountable ones he will appoint — and giving them much more power than the current elected ones have
smaller buildings = less revenue/sq. ft. of land
bigger units = higher cost to build per unit
cheaper prices = the exact opposite of everything I just said 😭
it’s straight up common sense to have speed cameras in school zones.
it objectively makes sense and that’s why dozens of countries around the world use them.
if you’re against them you’re just against paying the ticket for speeding, which is your fault at the end of the day.
Every politician & Ontarian should call this the Doug Effect.
As wealth concentrates, so does power — the power to influence elections, shape policy, tilt markets and define the terms of public debate.
Taxing billionaires is not radical.
What is radical is allowing a system where extreme wealth exists alongside widespread hardship.
Put differently: for the same amount of money that we're using to shave a few bucks off a tank of gas, we could fund 2.4 million e-bike subsidies of $1k each
Goddamn I wish I lived in Australia sometimes…
It sucks because Canada could be just as smart!
Today's announcement by @mark-carney.bsky.social to suspend the 10c federal fuel excise tax until Labour Day is wrong as it's really a subsidy for drivers. Instead, Carney & his #LPC government need to aggressively push for alternatives to driving. #cdnpoli #ONpoli #TOpoli www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
We can both. However I’d rather public transit out of the two.
If we invest in public transit now, we invest in our future.

Carney suspending federal gas tax to provide relief to drivers.
Problem: There is physically less oil available now. Cutting taxes doesn’t create more gasoline.
Some way or another, people have to use less. The mechanism that makes that happen is higher prices.
there’s jobs asking for experience but much less entry-level apprenticeship opportunities.
but there’s barely any entry-level jobs in skilled trades. would be nice if the government actually did something about that…
