It is really kind of impressive in a morbid way how the entire US government rn is made up of just the most mind bogglingly pathetic and depraved men imaginable. They're all just the worst people but all in their own unique ways. It is hard to put into words.
hmmmm
that's a damn good quote!

The bots are real...
But also the concept of being able to buy your competition just straight up goes against the core argument for capitalism, which is that competition is good and breeds innovation and improves peoples lives, but that just kinda goes out the window when instead of competing you can just buy them up.
Like pretty much every story of "Why this thing sucks now" basically goes something like "then they were bought up by this competitor or venture capital firm or whatever and butchered for profit"... or it was McKinsey, one of the two
The concept of companies being able to buy up other companies, including their competition, seems really stupid. Maybe we should stop doing that...
The strange catharsis when you have utterly failed at a task and now there is no fixing it so you just have to wait it out...
I am mildly upset that so many ppl are just talking about how big a waste of money this is when the financial aspect is by far the least problematic thing about the concept of forcing people into warehouses. People need to get their priorities straight.

Tweet by Jatin @jatinkmalik The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible
Honestly knowing the ending now it feels like a kinda scp situation

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't. By magicmosshka, yesterday's
the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs

The last Horizon game I watched on a stream where the guy got increasingly irate as Aloy kept spoiling the solution to every single puzzle before you even had enough time to think about it.
I'm sure this will go well.
Really sucks that you can't just buy mp4 of movies like you can of music. There needs to be a Bandcamp but for movies
