Seen on walk to Boulmer. Pillbox or Alnmouth Battery, just north of Alnmouth by the Northumberland Coastal Path. Built 1881, by Algernon 6th Duke of Northumberland. Made into a pillbox 1940.

Nikolas Roerich (1874-1947, Russia) was a traveler, mystic and painter. He was mainly interested in Slavic paganism, Scandinavian sagas and religious myths from medieval Russia. In his work he tried to evoke a bygone world in colorful patterns in which people lived in harmony close to nature.

Going to start up Animal Crossing for the first time in years, just to see if the island has devolved into a Lord of the Flies bloodbath in my absence.

Hopefully Nook's desiccated corpse isn't hanging from the flagpole.

Putting this back up again because it is one of my favorite things I've made.

An ancient ruined tomb set into a rocky ridge-side. Stairs the right of the tomb entrance lead to grassy hills above. Stone blocks can be seen littering the landscape. The tomb-face shows three stoney entrances. Before the tomb is littered more stones.

A sci-fi desert landscape in which a tower can be seen in the distance. The tower is made up of dome shapes and a large globe on top. In the foreground can be seen the outlines of travelers with some kind of beast of burden. Rocky outcroppings dot the dunes.

A sci-fi scene in which some sort of facility is seen in the background, made up of towers and various shapes. Satellite dishes and an antennae are installed on some of the roofs. This facility sits on a rocky ridge. In the foreground a skeletal figure in a space-suit lies among the rocks.

A tombstone or some sort of stone slab sits among stones and a dead tree on the top of a grassy hill. Ivy covers one side of the stone, and writing or carvings can be seen on its face.

Speaking of ol Roerich, I only recently learned that he did sons paintings in America in the south west.

This is from his Arizona series. He also did a number of sketches and paintings of the ancient pueblos.

A painting by Nicholas Roerich of the Himalayas. A large range of mountains is lit by either a rising or setting sun. They are colored in blues, purples, and pinks. Clouds hang low around them, and a fog obscures the foreground where the foothills can be seen barely peaking out.

Nicholas Roerich traveled up through Sikkim and through the Himalayas all the way to Siberia on a spiritual pilgrimage gaining inspiration to paint beautiful paintings of mountains.

All I got for references is a google image search inundated with AI trash.
