Yes, Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term “dark matter” which is impressive, but he also coined the term “spherical bastard” to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more.

Yeah just like Luxon lets Act do the racist stuff, and NZF do the tobacco stuff alongside a big helping of immigrant hatred. They all use other people to say the things they can't be seen to say themselves.

This was on terrestrial telly, I could watch in a browser.
Thanks re geekzone, I've given up on the app for now and either watch live or via browser. Only use app for casting/streaming.

Ok weird
Just turned on the telly and TV1 seems to be frozen, other channels working fine.
Now it's gone black.
Guessing some technical issues

A Dog's Show was a long running and very popular show here in Aotearoa New Zealand. I think there's talk of bringing it back.
It was standard family viewing in our house when I was growing up.
John Gordon's commentaries were a delight.

Takeaway Tiramisu Tray Our most famous Italian dessert! Layers upon layers of espresso-soaked Italian ladyfingers and tiramisu cream. Gluten free option available.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been tempted to buy this, even thought there are only two of us in the house. But $89 is very spenny

A photograph f Elizabeth Warren. An older white woman with short blonde hair. She is wearing glasses, a striped shirt and dark jacket. The accompanying text says “There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there – good for you.
But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory…
Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea – God bless! Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay it forward to the next kid who comes along.”

Well, gosh! I wonder why so many people are skeptical about AI?
I'm happy to stay on that anti AI block list 🙃

I watched question time yesterday and it was very disruptive and tetchy, right wing in-fighting, left scenting blood. Gerry thrreatened to throw everyone out.

An Invention of Collective Nouns

A reckoning of spreadsheets.
A distraction of smartphones.
A prattle of podcasts.
A mispronunciation of scones.

A clique of photographers.
A heard of precedents.
An enjambment of
poets. A grope of presidents.

A pile of haemorrhoids.
A bunion of personal trainers.
A bout of estimations.
A condescension of mansplainers.

A stroke of geniuses.
A spot of adolescents.
An embarrassment of Richards.
A collection correction of pedants.

You could hear in her voice as she said it, that she thought she'd scored a massive point, oblivious to the idiocy of it.
