The trick is out there but I cant describe it. You gotta run Steam in gamescope and big picture. It turns out no, you can't have it all on Linux.
Steam overlay runs like crap while playing games (KOF '98 UMFE, Soulstone Survivors). It's important to me.

I tried ginput for San Andreas but I don't like either available control scheme. More than those I want an imitation of the original xbox port's controls, because that was what I played the game on for the first time.
