BC Health Experts Say the Province Has Solutions to the Toxic Drug Crisis. 10 Years In, Policies Still Ignore The Evidence. “We have this bizarre dichotomy where everybody agrees that this is a health issue, but the majority of the resources…goes to law enforcement.”

Two events this week in Victoria marked the 10 year anniversary of the public health emergency of the #toxicdrugcrisis in BC — one inside the Legislature building and one outside.

I went to both, and found experts on either side of the wall saying the same things:

OneCity signs Progressive Victory Agreement with COPE and Greens to prevent vote split

VANCOUVER (Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Territories) - OneCity Vancouver announces a Progressive Victory Agreement with COPE and the Greens to prevent vote splitting in the October municipal election. This follows over six months of formal and informal negotiations and will give progressive voters clarity and choice in October.

“Our parties got together, did the hard work, and we have a deal,” Azaroff said. “This October we have an opportunity to run, win and deliver a practical progressive government for Vancouver – and send Ken Sim packing.”

Over the past six months, we have had dozens of formal and informal discussions between progressive parties that have now resulted in OneCity running:

Five City Council candidates

Three Park Board candidates

Five School Board candidates

We also have secured an agreement between progressive parties that we will focus our energy and efforts on criticizing and campaigning against Ken Sim, ABC, and their big money backers.

“We’ve got six months to meet Vancouverites where they are on the issues that matter to them. I’m ready to get out there and win their trust and their votes, and build a Vancouver for everyone.”

For the first time in almost a decade there’s hope that better is possible for Vancouver. This deal shows that we can bring people together to get things done.

We can believe in ourselves, in our neighbours, in our city, and we can begin to build again.

“This is not grass. This is an entire system of devices, of build-up. It is complex – far more complex than people realize.”

I will never forget the day when a lovely older patient of mine (on OAT) was hanging out in clinic when EHS brought in someone post OD and semi-concious; he went over and just quietly hugged and held him close the whole time he was recovering--it was his son--and it still crushes me to this day

A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!
