So:
* Not coming up with a concept.
* Not having any knowledge on any of the disciplines related to the craft.
* Not being interested in improving his skill on either.
...and he's a filmmaker why, exactly?
I don't want to post about AI too much but I am always like.. baffled when people don't have ideas. I am drowning in ideas! almost everyone I know is!! the issue is making those ideas manifest!!!
you said 'amost immortal', so it checks out
He mentioned it himself when introducing himself when Alita and Nova arrived on Jeru
Alita was born over 200 years ago, but she's been alive/conscious for only ~35 of those years. Aga Mabdi is 222 and presumably has been activly alive for most of that time.
I do really like Alita, and I think a lot of analysis I've seen of her treat her as a much better person than she is.
so she attaches herself emotionally to the person her Lou was a copy of. The original Lou Collins becomes a replacement goldfish for her own late digital copy. Something Alita never gets to realize because she doesn't really get to interact with her anyway. She's a symbol, not a person.
She's framing it to herself as a rescue mission, but it's clearly not one guided by the moral intensive of freeing someone. She does not care about the state of any of the other brains on that brain grid. Alita first hears about the brains being kept in Jeru while she's mourning Lou,
In Last Oder, this mentality becomes one of the driving forces of her character.
The person she's trying to rescue is not her Lou. It's not the Lou she knew, it's not the Lou who knew her. She has no real plan on what to do with Lou's brain once she gets it, she just needs to have her again.
Alita deciding to take 'till death do as apart' as a challenge is something we already see in the early series when she's so desperate to make sure Hugo lives and doesn't leave her that she cuts of his head and literally attaches it to her own body. There's devotion, and then there's this.
Alita being so attached to Lou that she won't let even death take her away from her is beautiful and a big part fo why I ship them, but it's also a bit disturbing.
A rule she does not apply to herself when she chooses going to Jeru with Nova, and later to Mars to look for Erica, over reuniting with Figure 4.
This scene was heavily changed and downplayed in the movie, but the message in the manga was clear. If her partner cared more about a goal that might pull him away from her than about her, she would want him dead. Not broken up with, dead.
She told Hugo she understood his sister in law and she thinks she might have killed her partner too if he tried to leave her. And I don't think she was joking or exaggerating there.

One part of Alita as a character that I don't think I've seen discussed is how possessive she can be as a partner.
Raf and Blu trying to curl their hair. Only Raf is successful.

1A (Isabelle), 3A (Raffaella), 1B (Malachia), 3B (Angelie), 4C (Reina)
The design (for the angles mostly) is based on the comic version more than on the show version. It's something halfway between a school bus and a plane. But more round.
where'd his wings and second set of arms go?

If you were all of those things, maybe you'd be able to focus more on making the fandom itself a fun community than on turning it into a marketing tool for a sequel that has been definitly totally confirmed and announced twenty times over but without any details or dates.
