Food prices overall are still high, but egg prices are considerably down from those peaks - a nice thing, considering that scrambled eggs are my go-to lazy dinner, the meal I can always make no matter how tired or fridge-depleted I am. Scrambled eggs are affable plate mates, going well with toast and tortillas, rice and beans.

"You may also need to recover road capacity
from other purposes to support driving." The Trump administration urges governors and mayors to take away bus lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks to support more driving. No kidding - straight from USDOT head Sean Duffy to every gov and mayor in America

Just sobbed hardest I have since my mom died in 2020.

She missed these trials by a few months.

One of most ruthless cancers. Hard to fathom that maybe she'd still be here.

I feel such a hole inside.

In case you're wondering if we should fund mRNA research instead of another stupid war ... yes.

“frankly, there is only one majority in this country—that’s the working class.”

we have the power to improve the lives of working class people through tangible policies that lower costs, protect workers, reduce emissions and pollution, and increase our resilience to climate disasters. CCI’s framework lays that out:

Data centers are on the ballot in 2026 — and just failed the first… A Wisconsin city voted to add new hurdles to data center development in response to unwanted construction, and more communities could soon follow suit.

Voters in Festus MO, a Republican stronghold, just ousted every incumbent council member in response to a data center approval. "Data center opposition is on the rise in every nook and cranny of the country — and it may have a massive influence on more than just local elections this November."

Every single infrastructure computer should be airgapped from the Internet has been my opening position since 1995 and I've only gotten more "I TOLD YOU SO" about it.

who am i kidding, none of these are actually “niche” issues, the problem is capitalism

1 week ago 5 0 1 0

this is getting into not-niche territory, but:

- it’s absolutely wild that all the decent paying jobs with benefits are full time positions. companies should be required to offer part time jobs with the same hourly pay and benefits for people who can’t or don’t want to work 40+ hours a week

clothes shouldn’t be made out of plastic! honestly in 2026, very few things should be made out of plastic

i was looking at buying a couch a couple years ago and was reading through forums where most folks were saying you had to spend $5k+ to find anything made with real wood and springs

(ended up getting very lucky and finding something on marketplace for a decent price after a very long search)

1 week ago 1 0 0 0

it’s absolutely insane that one could spend several thousand dollars on a couch just for it to be just saggy and awful a year later

- there are so many products being sold in stores that contain lead and lead paint! home goods (literally from Home Goods), zellige tiles, *baby bottles*

- all cars are too big now

- there are not enough trees in american cities

- every modern piece of media is written for an audience that is on their phone, which makes it insufferable to watch.

- food used to taste better and now it sucks. yes, the restaurants/sysco stuff but also thing you buy at the grocery store!!

- somehow we’re still using public money to build sports stadiums for billionaires, which will then earn them lots of money, and no we still won’t tax them

niche issues candidates could run on and win lots of votes, probably (add your own below):

- “cheap” couches are uncomfortable and fall apart quickly, but expensive couches are somehow ALSO uncomfortable and fall apart very quickly
