I made a video to accompany my blog post about my little experiment with Red Heart Flower Power, showcasing the piece that taught me the most.

I messed around with Red Heart Flower Power and created some stuff that involves neither flowers nor granny squares.

I still love mixing variegated yarn. ♥️🧶 #crochet #TunisianCrochet
A phone pouch in salmon, teal, beige, blue, and white multicolored yarn with 6 beads on one side in red, green, and beige. A 6mm crochet hook is laying next to the ppuch.
Smaller size little hot pocket, with beads this time. I've no idea what possessed me to buy beads.
My take on the sock-on-a-strap thingy from popular fruit company in two shades of blue multi acrylic yarn
A little hot pocket.
A few months ago, I ordered a metal Tunisian crochet hook set from AliExpress and liked them a lot. But buying stuff from China is totally different value proposition now. I bought these hooks from Amazon that check all the same boxes.

A blue shawl is in the background with a light green work in progress on a golden Tunisian crochet hook and ball of yarn on a black spinner in the foreground.
Ever make something but didn't really pay attention to what you were doing but it came out better than expected and you wanted to make another one but now you have to figure out what you did? That's where I am today. 🧶#crochet
Lavender raffia yarn and lavender cotton yarn is pictured with the beginnings of a hat on a red crochet hook
It makes me so happy when I buy two kinds of yarn online to make a hat and they're so well matched.
A small scarf is beginning to take shape in denim blue, Halloween orange, and light green.
Experimenting with leftover yarn...
A black spinning yarn holder js sitting on a black desk. There is no yarn on the spindle.
I bought one of these spinning yarn holders a while ago and finally tried it out yesterday. It worked better when I removed the spindle from the magnet and let it sit on the base. Otherwise, there was way too much spin. Maybe the heaviness of the yarn matters; I was using a tiny sport weight cotton.
I finally pushed aside my deep hatred for all things Meta and created an Instagram account for crochet, and I see now why people have been complaining for years about the app shoving everything in your face but the people you follow. Anyway, it's www.instagram.com/jpwcrochetss...
I like combining different yarn to make simple things with a unique look, but sometimes it doesn't always turn out as I expected. After making several hats with different types of straw-like yarn, I rambled on a bit about some things I learned on video.

I've done so many Tunisian crochet projects in the round with 2-4 balls of yarn recently that I almost lost my mind when I remembered I needed only one ball of yarn to make a simple one-color skinny scarf. ☺️🧶 #crochet
A crocheted fedora hat made from blue raffia (straw-like) and a blue multi cotton/polyamide blend is sitting on a black desk and the yarn used to make it is sitting to it's right.
The colors on this one kinda remind me of Van Gogh's The Starry Night. #crochet #TunisianCrochet 🧶
Thanks!
2 skeins of a blue multi cotton/polyamide blend are paired with 2 sets of blue raffia yarn on a black desk.
Getting things lined up for the next hat attempt. After this, I will need a break from raffia. It's so annoying to work with. #crochet #TunisianCrochet 🧶
A crocheted hat made from beige raffia and a cotton/polyamide yarn (held double) in shades of pink, purple, beige and gray is sitting on a black desk next to a blue double-ended crochet hook and balls of yarn used to make the hat.
I have been trying to perfect my approach to a Tunisian crochet fedora. Each one has had major to minor issues, but I think one more attempt after this one and I might have something repeatable I like. #crochet #TunisianCrochet 🧶
Thanks! And I'd say definitely try it. Experimenting can be fun, but there's always some learning in it even when it's not.
Wrapped in black paper adorned with the Lolabean Yarn Co brand is my own set of the April Black Label box which consists of a large greige skein polka-dotted with bits of color from the 3 smaller skeins of magenta, navy blue, and gold.
Hooray! I got my very first order from @lolabeanyarnco.com today. No clue what I'll make with it yet, but it will be soft and lovely because this yarn is very niiiice. #crochet 🧶
Sitting on a black desk is a wide brimmed hat made from raffia yarn in beige and a cotton bamboo blend in magenta. A green metal Tunisian crochet hook, green plastic stitch marker, a pair of wire cutters, crimpers, and pliers are in the background.
I've been experimenting with raffia and yarn combos for colorful and fun summer hats but had been struggling with sealing off the stiff plastic hat wire. Metal crimp tubes seem to work better than heat shrink. I finally have a circle with no bend at the seal. #crochet #TunisianCrochet 🧶
Thank you!
A Tunisian crochet wide-brim hat made from purple raffia and a variegated merino-acrylic blend featuring purple, blue, pink, and peach shades.
I'm continuing my explorations in hat making. This is my 2nd hat with this stiff plastic millinery wire. I hate dealing with the wire, but I love the brims that can be created with it. So churchy. In fact, I wore the 1st hat to a church banquet this past weekend. #crochet #Tunisiancrochet 🧶
BTW, I wasn't expecting handwritten but the description on the label or maybe on the order form. You should/could charge more for handwritten notes, though, smudges and all. Authenticity.
Yeah, I get it. I'm trying to build 2 YT channels while figuring out how to max my crochet time for my nascent crochet biz and still find time to review tech gear. So this lefty will have to take your awesome descriptions and put them into the Capacaties app where I keep all my yarn info.
I love how you plan, design, and name your colors. My 1st order from you is the April box, so I don't know how you package yarn,, but I hope you put the write-ups in them so we can save them and remember. ♥️
Yes! But ironically, this stitch combo didn't curl at all. Using yarn over stitches really helps with that. I decided to edge this one for a bit more width and neater edges.

2 mini skeins of variegated yarn in muted purples, blues, pinks, greens from Naima Bond/Sister Ananse Yarn.
Playing around with stitches this weekend, I inadvertently found a way to edge Tunisian crochet with "regular" crochet but kinda looks like Tunisian crochet. This was also my first time using yarn from @sisterananseyarn.bsky.social. I started with minis out of fear of failure. 🙂 #crochet 🧶
