a medieval manuscript style digital illustration. text at the bottom reads "god blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason he made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine: so that humanity might share in the act of creation. - julian k jarboe." in the center of the piece stands a trans person with top surgery scars, body hair, and facial hair. they are nude, with a red cloth partly draped over their body, and they hold a loaf of bread in one hand and a cup of wine in the other. in the dark blue background behind their head is a sun/halo and 5 stars, and on either side of them are stalks of wheat. there is an arched golden frame around them, and around this is an illuminated border of grapevines.
i had the idea for this piece last tdov but it didn't quite come together until now 🥖🍷 quote by Julian K Jarboe
It's midnight here. I'm tired. I hope everyone had a good day of trans visibility.
Oh damn, that hits
6 Lit mags you gotta submit to this week (& why) The Cincinnati Review - One of the most prestigious traditional print mags out there, they also have a robust digital presence. Apogee Journal - A lit mag that's been slowly but surely establishing their footprint within the indie lit space. Luna Station Quarterly - Dedicated to sharing the "vast talents of female speculative fiction writers," this lit mag is one of the most vibrant and visually appealing spec mags I know. Translunar Travelers Lounge - A newer lit mag, they feature stories that "explore the fun side" of fantasy and sci fi. The Deadlands - I've enjoyed working with this mag in the past. They pay professional rates and have several reading periods throughout the year. The Saturday Evening Post - They've been around since 1821, and they focus on fiction and nonfiction (as well as cartoons) "on the ever-evolving American scene." CHILL SUBS® X ONLY POEMS
What to do on a random Friday night? Why, submit your work to lit mags of course!

Happy anniversary!
to write down all the things that sucked that day/week/month. It actually freed up some of my energy stuck in gridlock
Also, this may seem counterintuitive but since you mentioned needing to mask alllll the time, something that helped me when my life was like that was something I called "unhappy hour."
Permission to just show up as myself, no performing, just me @me in a timed setting
I don't have a dopamine menu but walk outside with or without listening to new music. Sometimes gardening. Permission to do a task very slowly and horribly without pressure.
What is involved in planning as a volunteer?
Huzzah!
😩
THIS. Like so many things in life, the process matters as much IF NOT MORE than the output.

This story is so good!
Please send your five minutes!
Goals for the week:
My motivation/energy is down, so I'm giving myself room to adjust.
1. Send my rejected-but-held poem to a couple other markets
2. Revise the poem I wrote based on a nightmare

Maybe a stupid question but would this work with a Chromebook?
"Indeed, even in democracies, choice can sometimes seem to be not only an illusion (is there any real difference between the scores of toothpastes or breakfast cereals in contemporary supermarkets?) or a headache to contend with, but a regressive force."
Oh this sounds really good
