…possibly why the nurses are never real excited about having me help out with the lines at the bedside 🙃 #medsky

Should we let children catch Omicron? Restrictions in schools must never return Allison Krug and Vinay Prasad FEBRUARY 2, 2022 5 MINS
During the peak of the omicron wave, about 1,000 kids were being hospitalized daily.
That’s when Prasad wrote this.
He said it was “reckless” to prevent covid in kids.
“However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies,” Marks wrote.
That’s how you write a fucking resignation letter.
Sing it, sister!

Going to post a primer on vaccine preventable diseases daily. Just because they are all coming back and we need to recognize them. #vaccineswork #MedSky #PedSky

“Vulnerable”, “discounted” and “used as pawns”,……. always.
Pediatricians telling it like it is. 😞
A Map of the US with states in various colors indicating flu levels. Several states are dark red and some are purple indication very high flu activity.
Good news! The CDC Fluview map is still active and getting updated (there were concerns it might have gotten purged).
Bad news! Flu is everywhere.
The Spelman College Glee Club knocked it out of the park 🌟
Just learned that a physician colleague made their office wifi password “vaccinessave” that everyone has to type in.
Now that is some good programming right there!
Thoughts from me, from the supply room - take those #earbuds out!
Influenza has officially entered the chat this year in #pediatrics & the miserable-feeling sick kids w/high fevers are rolling in.
CDC reports ⬇️ numbers of children vaccinated this year (~37%) vs last year (~44%).
Children died from flu last year.
It’s not too late to protect your kids.

"The louder that we can be about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines the better”
-me, on Fox5 DC yesterday
Let’s continue to flood both broadcast and digital with legitimate science about vaccines and drown out as much online misinformation as possible.
I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

Fabulous!!!
The idea that I should alter my practice based on an arbitrary decision by an insurance company is an insult to my education, training, and expertise.
Peter Hotez: 1.covid vaccines have saved 3 million American lives. 2. Childhood vaccines have saved 154 million lives globally . 3. Vaccines don’t cause Autism.

Dr. Hotez’ tweet warning of the fake.
Warning to all: Dr. Peter Hotez is not on BSKY. This is a fake.
(Repeating Dr. Hotez’ warning on Twitter).
Rejection isn’t a reflection of your value.
If you need a quick pick me up I strongly suggest working “bomb cyclone” into non-weather conversation a few times today.
Not a bad Rx as it turns out-
Raising my hand!
Fear of snakes? Definitely.
Fear of heights? Sometimes.
But didn’t think fear of next Cabinet pick would ever be on my list of phobias.
Everything that is happening with the new Trump administration is to scare you.
To make you want to put your head under the covers and never surface.
Do not.
You are needed.
Because they are going to face a resistance they were not prepared for.
No more playing around. 🖖
A tweet from Dr. Oz in which he claims that a person's astrological sign can reveal "a great deal about [their] health."
With Dr. Mehmet Oz pegged to head the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, it's a good time to remind people that he once said this 👇
As a medical historian, I can say that this is quite literally medieval.
10.3 million cases of measles occurred worldwide last year, up 20% from 2022, primarily because of inadequate immunization coverage.
The disease resulted in 107,500 deaths last year, mostly killing children under 5!!!!
There are no upsides to shunning vaccines.

It's US #AntibioticAwarenessWeek! Antibiotics are precious tools for fighting infections, but they should only be used when needed and for the shortest effective duration. #USAAW24
