I think it's not the council's job to "build" but to permit. This seems like a good initiative - we have a lot of under-used land and under-used infrastructure, and a great need for more housing in good locations.

A climate disaster levy could raise funds from gas and coal exporters to cover the skyrocketing cost of disaster response and recovery. Join more than 30,000 Australians and sign the Australia Institute's petition: nb.australiainstitute.org.au/climatedisas...
Actually Berwick is also on both lists: "Where people search" isn't a great measure as it is affected by where people expect to find something. Where they want to live is best measured by price: the higher property values in a location the more we need to build there.

An even easier and cheaper win is priority for trams and buses. End long waits at red lights and you will attract more users and reduce traffic congestion, a win for everyone.
I think it would be helpful to spell out Prosper's take on this news: the idea that more investment leads to more construction sounds plausible.
Labor's scheme to inflate house prices and further reward property owners is a fail, but there is a big gap in Green's housing policy: we need both more public and social housing and reform of zoning/heritage to stop them being used to block new homes in good areas.
Subsidising gas is not the answer - tax gas exports and get on with rolling out renewables.

Very flawed analysis, 1st preferences tell us little. In Australia 55% preferred Lab to LNP, in UK we just don't know due to crap voting system, but likely much less than 50% preferred Lab to Con. Also, if we didn't have preferential system, people would have to vote differently.
An Early View: A newly published review by Prof @dbalding.bsky.social and Dr Speed surveys major statistical advances in human genetics. From coalescent theory and #GWAS to evolving approaches in forensic DNA, this timely reflection explores the past, present, and future of the field.
Zoning and planning reform is the most important systemic change needed to deliver additional supply, other reforms also needed.
