Self id has also become a totemic issue but there's nothing incompatible about being generally sympathetic to trans rights and believing that might have safe guarding issues.

Overstated. Dropping price will increase demand, which supports calls for better service. Ticketing = friction too. You swap out negative externalities of car traffic, redistribution is not the only goal. Assertion that the Treasury will starve the service is a political point, not an economic one.
