This week I introduced AI to members of our Virology lab here in São Paulo. These slides present some fundamentals and concerns about Large Language Models (LLMs) at a very basic level.

I was getting hundreds per day as well, but one day they magically disappeared, hopefully never to return. So, so lacking in talent most of them.

Frank Harrell’s book is a treasure. I have adopted a number of his practices, especially with projects that various people will be looking at and commenting on. They save hassle and embarrassment later on. My students (generally final year undergrads and Master’s level) struggle with it however.
