The villa where we are sleeps about 10 (3 x double bedrooms + loft with 4 beds) and there’s under 500 m to both ski slopes and cross country ski tracks.
Afternoon coffee while the rest play cards (I don’t know how and am not very keen even to learn).
Usually it’s very very VERY VERBOTEN to walk on ski tracks (cue track rage) but this is a multipurpose trail, and obvs one is not supposed to walk on where skiers do their thing but stay on the left edge.
I only walked about 5 km as legs are a bit sore from yesterday’s hike/dragging my heavy butt up the highest hill in the Kuusamo region. Also, weather not the greatest, +1°C and sleeting. Unusually little snow.
There were a Welsh Mountain Pony and a Shetland Pony & a couple of reindeer girls to meet children and adults alike.

I haz been downhill skiing 😅For the second time in my life (the 1st time was 10 years ago). I’ve been cross country skiing since I was a baby, like most Finns, but this new-fangled yuppie slaloming stuff is new to me 🤭
Leaving for a week in North-East Finland tomorrow, so it’s very fortunate I got an appt today as the ache would’ve ruined the week.
Blaah. Developed toothache this week, luckily got an appointment for today. Upper jaw molar needs a root canal, dentist did the 1st phase today and I have another appt in two weeks. Good thing the local anesthesia works so well for me, so zero pain.

In other news, spring in Finland is *very* early. Where I live we’ve had about a month of mostly above zero degrees during the day and maybe a degree or two below zero or 0°C during nights, almost half the country has been snowless for a while etc

Anyways, stress continues, mum’s situation is unresolved etc.
And I’m kicking myself for letting myself believe I finally could breathe a little and have some free weekends as this winter parents finally agreed to get outside help. Probably jinxed it or this is some type of cosmic punishment for my wrongdoings 🤷🏼♀️
And he has a meal service which brings lunch every day. He obviously misses mum a lot and his days are boring, so he’s even clingier than usual, which I try very hard to understand but boy is it demanding.
Mum very jealously didn’t let him participate in cooking and laundry etc so now I’ve taught dad how to use the microwave etc. Good thing he has always known how to wash dishes by hand (doesn’t want to learn to use the machine) and is neat by nature. So kitchen is not a mess.
Dunno yet of she’ll be able to return home or if she needs a place in a nursing home. Dad has been home alone (he has some help visiting him) and I’ve been a bit 😳 because he’s been surprisingly helpless with some household tasks.
