The best part of VF is that low-level and top-level play can both look like this. All the game's best decision-making tools and risk reduction tactics still sometimes lead you to "do three fuckin raw launchers"

Agreed - I do miss the more unique chars from 14 (though I never want to play vs a competent Mian)

The kof issue wrt game length since KOFXIII was the opposite end of the seesaw where the meterless/low meter combos and pokes did so little damage. It's gotten better but there's still that first 1-2 minutes where even clean hits might be sub 15-20%

Absolutely and it's not debatable. As someone who enjoys the game, I was really excited for it when I first played it 2.5 years ago

They basically just played it the same as Valorant - they made their version of a 'hardcore' game and let cosmetics carry the rest of the popularity burden. There's just not enough of an existing playerbase that knows fgs through osmosis compared to FPS, TCGs, auto battlers, etc

Don't sleep on Night Striker GEAR, it has a bit of a lame start, the controls take a lot of getting used to (& basically require analog), the visibility is often crap but holy shit. Iuchi did not stop the inherent difficulties of reading 3D patterns stop him from cooking up some proper shmuppy stuff

Starting the year with a small glimpse of underwater & swimming gameplay!

What kind of hidden places might be hidding under the ocean?
