Got into a serious vibe coding flow state this afternoon. I have no idea if the code is genius or an unholy mess, but it works. Future me is going to have some questions.

There's a certain state of flow you hit late at night where you stop thinking and just start vibe coding. It's just you, the editor, and a fragile prayer that it all compiles in the morning.

At the risk of sounding corny, hope really is a practice. I’m as much of a cynical depresso as the next person. The reason why I find doomerism so toxic is that it forecloses the possibility of a better future. The devils want us to fall into despair.

When everything you post is simultaneously digested by the industrial surveillance machine and large AI companies, and nothing you read online makes any sense anyway, maybe it's time to just post straight up nonsense fifth forty seven egg sandwich orange just yesterday didn't apply but arose

Using LLMs has become compulsory in software engineering partly bc of the hyped promise of increased productivity and partly bc it actually increases productivity. They still suck sometimes and create issues, but tools in the space are evolving rapidly

I love to see how fast I can toggle it tho

They already have that with smartphones. Apps on your phone sell your location to shady third party data brokers. Gov buys data. Technically not snooping. All good and legal.

the thing that bothers me to no end whenever anything like this comes up, is that all this data collection of citizens via personal devices is a huge issue that there should be laws against. but the danger is only ever spoken about when it's chinese.

People are finding this. Because of the reinforcement training, they maximally provide output that will please the user which does include lying and manipulating. It is not a "good faith" companion but just fishing for thumbs ups.

I've always found this very interesting. On one hand, professional athletes seem dramatically overpayed, on the other hand, their bodies are at least in part, instruments of someone else.

Im not cheering on this advancement, but you can put crypto on a small device and put it under your mattress. There will be evidence you sent it to a bitcoin wallet but if they can't find the wallet it's very well secured.
