That makes sense! For us we can get overstimulated by things that normally give us asmr, but our misophonia triggers don't really overlap and we're more usually dealing with severity with those. Sometimes context changes it, but less so now than in the past for us

personally for us the best and most abundant stuff has always been the sounds of wordless activity, work play, etc. so like wordless cooking videos and blacksmithing videos and stuff like that. though a genre we discovered awhile ago that also nice are hand crafted themed ambient soundscapes

the asmr video creator community vs having asmr is interesting cause 99% of the stuff we see get labeled "asmr" doesn't activate the response for us and many even contain common misophonia triggers, so we're never sure what's going on with the youtube creator side of it

It's still so crazy that in 2024 a huge chunk of bsky's userbase hit a peak of "we're ready to pay subscriptions for bigger features and support the platform, just tell us when it drops 🫡" and then within six months the Bsky team gleefully cut through all that good will with surgical precision

ironically these alternatives are usually only contributed to by them or primarily by them and are usually more closed or strict than the projects they're rejecting. its cool they at least put the energy into something though

we don't think it's intentional disinformation, we think it's an optical misunderstanding thing, because we've seen stuff happen like people take strong political stances against open consortiums or some project anyone can submit proposals to and then create entire alternatives about it

in our observations of when people off the cuff theorize about an organization, project, etc. being "created behind closed doors by people who are paid off" it's often about things that are actually pretty transparent and less often about things that are totally opaque?

ultimately both can mean well too, we've had the salt of it being someone who is otherwise friendly doing it, but if we're actually trying to talk about our experiences it's really obnoxious and the opposite of adding to the conversation

we try to talk about the DSM a lot less than we used to because we've had complete strangers awkwardly try to explain to us how we work using the DSM without ever having read how it's used or had other people take over to talk about their thin air theory on how it's made

a lot of people for or against the DSM know very little about its intended application or process of creation, even though that information is easier to access by the public than a complete DSM itself
