in 1974, *at least* 5,000 stoners joined the Smoke-In at Washington Square Park sponsored by the Youth International Party (Yippies). we marched up Fifth avenue to Central Park, where David Peel performed, Dana Beal and Wavy Gravy speechified, and joints appeared like loaves and fishes. i was there!
