highly doubt they would change things around there. who knows
Demi for sure, Kado no Mise, then who knows. Owamni. depends on how their new location at Guthrie pops off for them. Spoon is maybe a notch below 1 star, unless they decide to play. Bucheron.
How much did Meet Minneapolis spend to help bring the Michelin Guide to the city? I have answers: www.minnesotamonthly.com/general/mich...
I don't think so - but there's a market for people to pay for those guides.
Biggest impact of this in my view... if you're going to open a restaurant in the next 3 years, you're more interested in Minneapolis than you may have been before Michelin
lololol
Agreed - it's a failure of our state tourism board in my view - but they have different priorities. Restaurants has never really been one of them.
this is true of all 6 of these cities, but the state tourism boards have consistently rejected to pony up. I do know at least one candidate for Governor was intending on changing that, but here we are
i've reached out to visit saint paul to see if they opted out or if they were not invited
Michelin will only rate WITHIN MINNEAPOLIS CITY LIMITS. Meet Minneapolis paid to be a part of the tourism groups bringing in Michelin, so Saint Paul is out, suburbs are out (Travail), Duluth is out. Pay to play. Doesn't guarantee anyone gets a star, but you pay to bring in inspectors.
Saint Paul isn't part of the deal - inspectors will only be in Minneapolis
It's official: Great Lakes Michelin Guide will include Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh. Michelin says boots are already on the ground, but we won't get the star ratings until 2027.
Meet Minneapolis was a partner - not Visit Saint Paul or Explore Minnesota so who knows yet
The announcement is just that they’re going to rate - no rating has happened yet
BREAKING: Michelin stars coming to Minneapolis and Milwaukee: news conference at 9am CT in Milwaukee - i teased this in my Friday substack. Meet Minneapolis is in Milwaukee for the news, typically tourism boards pay millions over 3 years for this. It’s a big deal for restaurants.
JUST ONE: Only one Minnesota chef advanced to the finals of the James Beard Foundation awards - can't remember the last time that happened! The guy who advanced: a quiet perfectionist with a 26-seat Japanese omakase restaurant. www.minnesotamonthly.com/general/just...
growing up we never bought anything at the ballpark!
I hope not but I will update
like I was trying to crank out stories, anchor the news, and Brauer would be yelling about getting the price information for the bloody mary with a slice of pizza on it
We need the distractions from the team at this moment lol
for many the new food day is a fun diversion from the real problems of the world, I used to enjoy how irritated it would make @dbrauer.net.
A warning: today the Minnesota Twins preview their new foods. Prepare yourself accordingly.

Lovely night in Saint Paul
I talk about this with friends and my radio producer a lot: I love a good low-stakes fight. Over parking meters or burgers - the fights that you care about intensely but don't really matter.
Monday is half-priced wine bottle night at Broder’s, Nightingale, Barcelona, Mestiizo, Cabana Club. Mill Valley Kitchen for Inner Circle Club Members and Downtowner (St. Paul) when you buy an entree. TUES/WED Deals here:

Totally agree - I’m so uninterested in most debate about “rhetoric”. That’s just become code for strong opinions you dislike. This was well done
Tough moment for you
Lotta social media chatter that layoffs are rolling at Breakthru Beverage Group, the country's third-largest wine & spirits distributor by volume. I've reviewed a memo purportedly from CEO Tom Bené referencing them. Have followed up with the company for confirmation and more details on the cuts.
Same newsletter but this isn’t as interesting I guess
