Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
Mark Carney's decision to suspend the federal gas tax was dumb. The positions taken by Pierre Poilievre and Avi Lewis, on the other hand, were downright ludicrous.
We can do better than this, folks. We have to. #cdnpoli

I thought Carney was a builder of infrastructure? With $2.4 billion, we could quickly get to incredible levels of intercity bus service.
Medical appointments, family visits, vacations, etc could all be done without a car.
Instead, the people who can afford a car will save ~$5 per tank.
After *choosing* to cut $5 Billion from the long-promised-not-delivered Permanent Public Transit Fund, he now *chooses* to subsidize gasoline companies by more than $2 Billion.
He makes choices, Canada’s urban communities have not asked for this, but will bear the load of those choices.
Rather than mock Surrey for having ambitions we should direct our ire at the Vancouver decision makers who would prefer Vancouver be some sort of a village

Splashdown! Vehicle is stable and upright. “A perfect bulls-eye splash for Integrity and its four astronauts!” #Artemis
Happy Splashdown!
Welcome home.
"weve got a great view of the moon out the window. It's looking a lot smaller than yesterday"
"Guess we'll have to go back"
Alright now I'm getting stressed
Safety in space a shared responsibility
I think it's something like 38,000 km/h 😬
4 of the coolest people alive are hurtling back to mother earth, currently going 14,000 km/h and accelerating rapidly
Metro Vancouver will soon have a corridor where two RapidBus routes overlap, and Burnaby has officially failed in providing ANY new transit priority.

"It’s a bright spot on the moon,” CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen said, his voice breaking up, “and we would like to call it Carroll.”
The crew all shared a hug after.

This is the face of a lunar scientist who has just been told that the #Artemis II crew saw SEVERAL impact flashes (the flashes when meteors hit the lunar surface) in real time 😃 🌓💥
This is really quite good. Short and to the point.

My interpretation but kids are always watching. It's why we say representation matters. I hope this young person shoots for the stars.
Route 8 used to have twice as many trips during the busiest hours of the day. Longer wait times not only reduce the convenience of public transportation but also have very real impacts on people's lives (e.g., having to choose between arriving extra early or extra late to work/school).
If we're trying to mitigate the cost of living impacts of this war, it seems like the right move is to improve transit so that people aren't forced to go into ruinous debt just to get to work. So that they have an alternative that's decent.
Toilet issues, drinking water issues ... Artemis III might need to invest in some space-plumbers 🪠
They're currently having to stow some contingency water in case their main supply goes down again. All before they make the decision to go for the moon in about 1 hour, or, I assume, return to 🌍 early
There's still almost 300K people with the NASA feed on now!
New Westminster had the highest per-capita death rate during the 2021 heat dome.
City council just passed a motion requiring landlords to have one "cool" room in all rental units. Reporting by @kehyslop.bsky.social thetyee.ca/News/2026/04...
It's true!

Hey #NewWest. I love this City for the same reasons you do: we take action & act with compassion, work together to lift one another. I'm proud of the region-leading work we've done on Housing, road safety, infrastructure, inclusion, & more. We we have more work to do. Let's keep moving forward.
New Westminster Mayor @pjnewwest.bsky.social announces he will seek re-election this October, following months of being on the fence.
Johnstone will face off against councillor Daniel Fontaine, after four years of fairly acrimonious battles between the two at city hall.
My @thestar.com column: There’s lots of disagreement about Toronto transit projects, but damn near everyone can agree about one thing: electrifying and increasing GO Train service is a great idea.
It’s a real shame Doug Ford’s government has screwed it up again.

"Of course a new apartment is going to have higher rent, for the same reason that a 2026 Toyota Corolla costs more than a used 2006 Corolla. But adding new housing allows higher-income renters to “trade up,” which in turn makes their former domiciles available for occupancy."
