Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation.

It’s an essential step in the process.

People who actually know a goddamn thing about how social movements work understand that protests can be massively useful not as ends in themselves but as *starting points* for people who are newly mobilized

They are huge opportunities. They matter

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

When you ride with Union Cab, you’re supporting a local worker-owned and operated co-op that puts its values into practice.

How Madison’s Union Cab Co-op Competes in the Uber Era - City Cast Madison Since 1979, Union Cab Co-op has been a worker-owned taxi company serving Madison. While its business model may have changed over the years to compete with Uber and Lyft, its mission remains the same.

@unioncabcoop.bsky.social, a worker-owned cooperative in Madison, WI, offers a model where drivers not only receive a share of the profits but also have a say in the business. They operate the state’s only on-demand fleet of wheelchair-accessible cabs, and revenues are reinvested into the community.

Since we give free rides to the polls on election days, we’re unable to endorse any candidates or tell anyone how to vote… BUT we can absolutely can say this is an extremely important election. There’s a lot at stake, so please do not sit this one out!
