They want the next Fortnite by next year. Never mind that Fortnite has been in development for fifteen years by the foremost experts on a major game engine and languished for multiple years after its early access release before it actually took off.

Aside from zero, the only pepsi I actually like is the vanilla nitro pepsi. It takes the sweetness and gives it lush flavor with a smooth, almost whippy texture. It's a dessert soda, and in my experience, that is the only context in which the trademark pepsi sweetness actually works.
At least EA used to let the studios they'd absorb put out their best ever couple of games before destroying them. A deal with the devil used to get you something. Now they just lay everyone off immediately and sit on your IP forever.
I used to do this to offcut dough when I worked at a donut joint.
My partner just hypercorrected their way into a delightful new term: in medias rex. In the middle of kings.

thinking, once more, of the guy (or gal) who spend years of their life making the mod for deus ex where you can play as a woman, down to having a voice actor re-record dialog and editing all the in game dialogue so the pronouns are correct

Sometimes I feel like a lot of people who have never read House of Leaves love to talk about House of Leaves as if it's some sort of cryptid or SCP.
It's just a horror novel for people who are huge nerds about typesetting and framing devices.
NEW—I got an exclusive excerpt from a USAID whistleblower's new book that made me gasp multiple times. It details Trump's dismantling of the humanitarian aid agency & his team/DOGE's shocking ignorance to public health.
'Into the Wood Chipper' by Nicholas Enrich is out tomorrow. Read excerpt here:
I think there was a Twilight Zone episode about that
When I was in foodservice management, I used to put down three cans of Bang Energy a day. It's 300mg caffeine per can, but no sugar. So it balances out.
For some reason I felt real funny and had palpations for a couple days after I quit.
I know there's a million terrible things going on but this is actually up there with the most terrible. The potential end of American nature, paving the way for total exploitation.

Douglas Trumbull
Douglas Trumbull (1942-2022) was born 84 years ago today.
He directed Silent Running, produced The Starlost, and worked on VFX for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner (1982, below), and many other classics.
I wake each day more and more surprised that there is absolutely NO Dexter Morgan (With Harry or Debra Ghost) / Ezri Dax (With Joran Dax Ghost) slash fic. Not a one.
That's real. It's the train from Scooby Doo and the Goblin King
STUDIO UPDATE: I've been hand-designing and writing my next book, "Gouache in the Wild"....plus keeping my commitment to writing for International Artist Magazine and my Substack blog "Paint Here."
Like with the Dinotopia books, design comes before writing!
I agree in every single case except for the first person shooter.
A little sneak peak of a feature I added recently! What do you think? 🎵🐦

There's also the VERY strong incentive of "you get to go to the moon." Which many many people would absolutely jump at for no pay whatsoever.
It's one of the (many) things I like about the Expanse. The authors have no problem portraying air and water as coercive resources that Earth and Mars hold over the heads of spacers.
I feel like it would actually be incredibly easy to press skilled laborers into unpaid servitude on the moon if you control the rockets that allow people to enter or leave Moontown and the communications infrastructure that allows people to report on the conditions on the moonground.
Just lie to em
Sick!
The waters of the Underworld reflect animate skeletons as they appeared in life. Take a look next time you see a skeletal patrol across the way: you'll see a marching column of living men.
They loathe this, hating their past weakness. When they see these reflections, their absent lips sneer.
They should invent a website where you can post your stories and if you're a good writer then they just shower you with praise and money instantly. Kinda wild that nobody has done that yet.

don't wanna post too much of his art (he's still at it!) but the way Giancola picks up what Tolkien was putting down is important
