Rod Serling stands in a glowing doorway, surrounded by the title Serling: A Journey Into The Twilight Zone with TV's First Visionary, by Alan Sepinwall
Very excited to reveal the cover for my next book, Serling: A Journey Into The Twilight Zone with TV’s First Visionary. The book will be published by Grand Central on October 13 of this year, and pre-orders are open now: www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/alan-...
Can’t wait for this! Read a lot of the Serling papers while researching a project ages ago. Fascinating stuff, incredible writer and thinker.
At the moment, it's not even letting me leave the diner!
I don't get the reference.
Thank you so much for your help on it!!!! I hope the guys didn't fire you again for being occupied with this last year.
Coincidentally, turned in my final edits on the Serling book this morning. No matter how many other changes I want to make, I can't — at least, not without making some kind of deal with the devil. Which always works well for people on The Twilight Zone.
Couldn’t hit “order” fast enough.
In an era of too many “Rod Serling moments,” I can’t think of a more timely TV bio, even though Serling has been gone more than half a century. And Alan is sure to bring just the right mix or reporting and analysis.
Thanks! There's still some last-minute editing happening, but mostly it's about preparing for the launch at this point.
I did unfortunately have to watch The New People pilot, so it gets discussed in the book.
If the only way I can fully appreciate the new movie is to sit through a three-hour movie I've already seen multiple times before just so I can get a bonus scene... someone has badly failed at the whole storytelling thing.
True story: the original cover didn't have the word "by" in front of my name (because it's usually considered old-fashioned in publishing), until both @thefienprint.bsky.social & @jasonlynch.bsky.social looked at that version and made the same leap you did.
It’s the story of Serling’s life and work, and also of his staggering legacy. I spoke with storytellers like Guillermo del Toro, Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Vince Gilligan, Ben Stiller, Jane Schoenbrun, and many more about how Serling’s work inspired their own. Pre-order links:
Oh, big time.
Desi Arnaz actually played a role in the birth of The Twilight Zone!
Getting the rights to use recordings of that would be much too complicated.
Hasn't been decided yet. Whether it's me or someone else, it's going to be a challenge to read the excerpts of Rod's Twilight Zone intros.

John no
the cover for The Worst Team Money Could Buy: The Collapse of the New York Mets, which was about the team in the early 1990s.
Time to get Klapisch and Harper to write a sequel?
(You have my sympathies. This sucks.)
You can see why I would need to!

@miketanier.bsky.social Thoughts on the Dexter Lawrence trade?
Which is which? I'll never tell.

Hello, and welcome to America’s most difficult game show: John Magaro or Michael Angarano?
Styles AND Downs?!?! Where do I sign?
Giants now need a defensive tackle in addition to their other roster weak spots. Feels like at 5, they're choosing between Love, Styles, and Downs. Any predictions for whom they'd want (or could get) at 10?
