A text from my uni-aged daughter today:
If we sent a poet to look at the moon, I would be incapacitated for a week. Thank god we send scientists and engineers 😂
I'm already mildly incapacitated by their descriptions 🥹💖

I don't know if there's ever been a time in human history when the whole world is able to be right on the bleeding edge of scientific discovery. This is awesome.

Last Kingdom, the series, is about a character from there and trying to reclaim it, in case that's of interest 💚
Orders of friars do not appear to have overlapped with the Viking age afaict from Wikipedia.
I hate that I looked this up 😂
Congratulations! That's amazing!!! And this is a gorgeous piece. 💚
When I say sugars, I mean carbohydrates
As in carbon and hydrogen
Plants put carbon into the soil, and microbes keep it there
Soil is your very own carbon sync, if you protect it! ✨
Protect soil life!
Keep soil covered
Minimize digging
Avoid chemical inputs
Keep living roots feeding the soil
Plant variety--different plants have different root depths and need different nutrients
Protect ALL life in your garden!
Everything has a role to play!

A reminder for those doing #springplanting and #gardening
🌞All energy comes from the sun
🌱Plants harvest that energy, turn it into sugars
🦠Soil microbes exchange nutrients with plants for sugars, and along with the soil food web, create soil
🧪Fertilizer kills microbes and collapses this system
Oh my god THIS feeling. 🫠

A painting of a tree trunk, wet from rain, shining wetly with overcast ambient light and dappled with moss.
Another out-the-window painting on a rainy day.
Practice, practice.

Fffff...this is glorious. 🥹
You know...? Same 😂💚
A painting of a stone retaining wall under overcast lighting conditions. Snow dots a mossy basin, and ferns grow above and out of the rock wall. A waterfall spillway, though not pouring water, shines damply over the basin.
A painting of a street on which a car is parked beneath tall conifers. Snow has begun to collect on branches of the trees, and flurries dot the image. A plum tree is in bloom off to the side, and a dark mossy branch arcs and webs through the foreground.
A painting from the edge of a lake beneath overcast skies. The grass is green in the foreground, and a tree with hanging wispy clumps of yellow flowers grows out of the grass, dominating the image.
A painting of a juniper bush and a fern beneath a dark tree trunk and branches beneath overcast skies.
A few more out-the-window studies. Some day it will be warm and not raining and I can sit outside for these!
Painted by a human. 💚
Each painting took about 40-60 minutes.

I love how you captured the weight & draping--it tells so much about what they're "made of" and how they move. Lovely work!
I love the palette for this! Such mood!
This is just...really neat. I'm sure it would be even cooler in person! Congratulations on the win!
A painting of a plum tree in bloom beneath an overcast sky, rendered in wispy greens, browns, reds, pinks, and lavenders. The tree hangs over a street, and in the background some large pine trees loom.
Today's out-the-window study!
Trying to be intentional with my mark-making and hopefully capture how the current light conditions are affecting the colors here. (Same subject as my last one if you wanna compare the light!🌞)

I love how you captured the sand in the waves and the wet sand on the beach. Lovely subtlety as always. 💚
Ohh I did not know about Artist and Craftsman--I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip!
(Apparently it exists in many other cities too!)
Thank you! ☺️
This is so much fun. I especially love the transition through the window to the book--felt fresh! Fun stuff!
A painting depicting a sunny morning view of a plum tree in bloom, rendered in sweeping brush strokes. Sunlight hits the top of the tree, illuminating some of the green buds on the branches.
Another out-the-window painting. Spring is starting! 🌸 (It's still quite cold though.)

The first sunset of daylight saving time. 6”x6” oil
Like a stained glass window! Always gorgeous work. 😍
These are lovely!
A painting of a fern growing atop a retaining wall, next to a tree trunk, in moody overcast light.
Today's daily "out the window" study.
(Too cold & rainy for actual plein air still 😅)
