It's hilarious to me that London could've had a suspended monorail (like Wuppertal in Germany). The article features a delightful list of urban megaprojects around the world that weren't built in the end. Source: buff.ly/MPm8CH5

How a Janet Jackson song crashed laptops for 9 years In 2001, Microsoft support employees made a shocking discovery: Janet Jackson's hit, "Rhythm Nation," could cause laptops to crash. New details have now come to light showing what was done about it.

God I love stories like this.

'Rhythm Nation' used to crash hard drives.

Mis-read that as Archers:Doomsday and now I can’t stop thinking what that would be like

PM Carney - "There are some who say there's no need for a comprehensive plan. They believe we should wait it out in the hope that the United States will return to normal. That the good old days will come back. But hope isn't a plan and nostalgia is not a strategy." #cdnpoli

Birmingham is awash with local election candidates – but will result be a ‘coalition of chaos’? Some fear a fragmented field of hopefuls from Labour, the Conservatives, Greens, Reform and independents could leave city ungovernable

It's well worth clicking on the link here to see the brochure in full and the care and attention devoted to the design of the new estate.

In my upcoming video I talk about the Legion of the United States, the real start of the US Army, and how its commander (General "Mad" Anthony Wayne) focused on things like making sure his soldiers had clothes, enough food to eat and guns that actually worked.

Or "nerd shit" to our current SecDef.

Honestly the Pleasant Green universe is a phenomenal extended universe and TLI is just magnificent if you enjoy Lovecraftian tales with a nice bit of british spy thriller thrown in for good measure.

I honestly could gush about these shows but just experience them however you can.

The incomprehensible shrieking noise I just made… omfg it’s back!! I love this show so much, and the Aldrich Kemp series, they’re so so good. If you haven’t listened to them, now’s the time. If you HAVE listened to them, well now’s the time to listen again

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 stamp duty on her flat, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should immediately resign if she had “any moral decency”.

Now we learn he personally made £91,000 in excess payments by failing to pay the tax his company legally owed

Very cool and not concerning at all that the technology that the worst people in the world want to proliferate into every facet of our lives and is boiling the oceans and ruining the lives of vulnerable people carries the same warning as Psychic Readers Network commercials from 25 years ago.

Want to know capitalism’s endgame? Just look at private equity – it has captured our everyday lives | Hettie O'Brien These companies now own everything from nurseries to care homes, squeezing vital services for profit while we foot the bill, says Hettie O’Brien, author of The Asset Class: How Private Equity Turned C...

Private equity controls our lives from the cradle to the grave.

Profiteers from hospitals, nurseries, housing, care homes, undertakers.

Business model - high prices, low staffing/wages, high debt, asset-stripping, tax abuse.

Life commodified & financialised.

Profits for the few, misery for many.
