Which title theme moves you more?
Saving Private Ryan by John Williams
Band of Brothers by Michael Kamen
"The Great Eatlon" is still great. Wish pieces with this sort of energy were more common these days. open.spotify.com/track/4diQxS...
Excellent work!
New Superman teaser ...
Well, I guess Clark went to Top Gun to learn how to fly or something. I'm not feeling this vibe (visually or musically) for this Superman ... at this point. We'll see ...

If nothings else, "The War of the Rohirrim" has gotten me to return to listening to Howard Shore's scores for LOTR and The Hobbit ... non-stop.
I did not know that Richard Carpenter wrote a theme song for his sister, Karen. Not sure how I feel about it conceptually, but it is a nice piece. open.spotify.com/track/6ooK9Z...
Speaking of the amazing Naoki Sato (and how I wouldn't have minded hearing what he'd come up with for something like War of the Rohirrim), just added this to my "Best of 2024" list.

#NaokiSato
Gotta say, folks, that I appreciate all the new follows and beginning of interactions with some of you here. While I bailed on Twitter long ago, moving to FB just hasn't scratched the itch. I appreciate the simplicity of how Twitter used to work and how Bluesky does work.
Very true. I can't help feel that they could've gotten closer. I think about what a Naoki Sato might have done ... or a Conrad Pope. I'm guessing, too, there were likely budget limitations that may have kept the sound for TWOTR feeling a bit thin in comparison to the originals.
Having listened to #TheWarOfTheRohirrim one time through ... I feel it is a decent and faithful musical entry into the Jacksonverse, but fails to reach the depth of feeling or memorability of Howard Shore's efforts for #LOTR and #TheHobbit. I suspect I may feel the same about the film, itself.

Yep. It is referenced but not overly used.
Of course, Gordy Haab's score for #IndianaJones and The Great Circle was added to my "Best of 2024" Soundtrack album list.

Great piece! This would really elevate the right Christmas-movie.
Classic.
Agreed! Then he followed it up with another amazing work for 1994's Black Beauty.
That's a great idea ... sounds like an opportunity that "someone" should develop! :)
Haven't shared this in a while, but if you're looking to find an undiscovered soundtrack gem or two, check out this "Secret Tracks" playlist. Currently, 323 songs have been added by soundtrack geniuses from around the world. You're welcome to contribute as well! open.spotify.com/playlist/4tj...
Definitely a different aesthetic in the 80s. Something shifted in the 90s...something that might make movies from that period more relatable to the younger gens today.
A River Runs Through It - Original Soundtrack by Mark Isham (cover)
Sommersby Original Soundtrack by Danny Elfman (cover)
Of late, I've been revisiting movies from the 90s and am rediscovering just how amazing that era was for both film and film scores. Recent rediscoveries: "A River Runs Through It" (Isham) and "Sommersby" (Elfman).
This is the worst practice of Spotify. No clue as to which tracks were removed from my playlist.
Exactly. That's why I can't find any artistic reason to make a live-action version ... which apparently is a shot-for-shot remake. For me, I've stopped participating in Hollywood's continual lazy attempts at money grabs. Maybe they will release it when they do the live action remake. :)
And you don't have any concerns about it failing to live up to the crazily high standards of the animated feature? I mean if Dworks wanted to remake "El Dorado" or "Rise of the Guardians," where the bar is much lower, I could understand. Of course the branding on HTTYD is much stronger than those

And we're happy about this? I guess whatever Disney does Dreamworks must do as well. :/ I guess if John Powell is REscoring, perhaps that might be something of worth.
Hey folks! It's been quite some time since I've entered these halls. What's good?
