Rope (data structure) - Wikipedia

On very very brief reading, this sounds a little like a rope data structure?

I didn’t see you mention it, but may be good to use something like homebrew to install newer versions of bash, git, python, etc. I don’t know about the latest version of macos, but older versions of the OS did not include properly modern tooling.

I still find joy in writing CLIs for Go using Viper/Cobra, but Clap almost gets me there in Rust. No question about power, just ergonomics.

Am I missing something? I don’t see mention of PureLogs on this page. Is this the wrong link, or maybe I’m just an idiot? :D

You mean multiple, for a redundant backup, right?

Our industry loves to create problems in the name of innovation only to turn around and sell you a solution to the problem we just created.

Someone get one of these to Bill Leeb or Nivek Ogre, stat!

Are you using Clippy to look for unsafe, unwrap, etc?

It’s not quite that. Box<T> does get resolved to a specific concrete type or trait, so the compiler does not need to trust; it knows.

Put another way, if the thing accepting Box<T> needs T to be numeric, the compiler will complain if you attempt to give it a string.

I secretly like it when my Argo-CD apps are degraded.

You get to code 25% of the time? In this economy?

@hazelweakly.me ‘s comments sound like what I feebly tried to label “greek choir”, & it sounds like they did a way better job in practice; we had limited time & other factors that need improvement.) But step 1 was, we’re here to see how we work together & communicate, not primarily to solve the bug.

Have done both real pail programming, and a “greek choir” version — where candidate hacks and interviewer is there to discuss, answer questions, give context, suggest, explore together, etc. Both have led to a higher understanding of candidate’s skills and likelihood if success.

I had the great pleasure of seeing them perhaps a couple of dozen times, growing up. Coming up on three decades later, and their’s is _still_ among the greatest live shows I’ve seen.

Well shit, now I'm even more depressed. And yet... , I would love some more Chidi.

Sounds a smidge like Golang’s int and uint; 64 bits most of the time, unless you are on a 32 bit system.

So, this is something that I’m curious about. In theory, there becomes a point where that hardware that runs these systems (SSA, etc.) needs to be retired.

What is the compatibility between existing COBOL code and modern hardware? Or what is the effort in migrating to such a platform?

After two moves I stumbled upon mine, along with a half dozen half completed projects and random bulk parts for a few more.

How the San Francisco Giants saved Steve Perry We've been watching videos of Steve Perry leading crowd singalongs of Don't Stop Believin' at baseball games and they're the most joyous thing ever

Living in the SF area at the time, it feels like the Giants winning the world series was what brought it back. But maybe that’s just a local perspective.

Answering my own question…. www.loudersound.com/features/ste...

The last language that I dove into was Go; the tools made it a good experience. Just “go build” and you’re off. Let me not speak of JS/TS or Python for anything bigger than “hello world”. Once the package manager wars concluded, I was sold all over again.

Rust is giving me similar vibes.

Right when I’m in OH? You’re welcome.

Why does this feel like one of those “I don’t understand or like it so I’m going to call it woke” comments?

Definitely _not_ a stealthy claim. I’m just here for the pictures of synths and the demos of squarky beeble bits.

If I do, will you ship it back to me? Asking for someone who doesn’t have a red SH101. Yet?

Cut to me helping a friend pick up the first box, on the way to the moving truck, and banging my shin on the coffee table.

I like to write Go. I like to write Rust. …. I also like to write BASH, but don’t hold that against me.
