right like, getting a *little* colorful with the language to a reasonable degree once in a while can be fun, but overall sticking to clear, basic language that always works and holding it up with good writing is the best. too much to ask of a lot of people though

also a big part of what makes something erotic is who the characters are and the situation they're in, and they tend to be lazy or use their characters mainly as OOC vehicles to just get off, so they have to overcompensate the lack of characterization with wildly over the top prose.
